CitizenVectron
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/unemployed-find-something-new-white-house-campaign/ Quote A new White House-backed ad campaign aims to encourage people who are unemployed or unhappy in their careers to go out and "find something new." The campaign is rolling out as the nation's jobless rate remains elevated, with almost 18 million Americans out of work following the economic hit of the coronavirus pandemic. The opening ad in the "Find Something New" campaign beginning Tuesday features ordinary people sharing their stories. A companion website provides links to training and other resources. On an intellectual level, yes, of course people should always be prepared to change careers or industries as the economy changes. But as with all things, this administration isn't thinking intellectually, they are trying to pass the buck on the pandemic slowdown so they can wipe their hand and say "see, we told people to find new jobs, if they don't then it's not our fault!" Of course, this does not apply to industries like unprofitable farming who will continue to be bailed out in perpetuity for political reasons. There is certainly good work done by the Catholic Church, and by other organisations that do harm in parallel. The preferred alternative is to have non-harmful institutions provide those same services.
finaljedi
Great messaging from a woman who's never had to develop skills or interview for a job and some millionaires/billionaires.

Right, there is some truth here. Like where was this sentiment when Clinton dared to offer to retrain coal workers to move on from their antiquated, black lung, bullshit, turn of the 20th century, soot faced Dickensian careers? Coal has been dying for decades, but if you're out of a career you trained years for it's your fault if you haven't moved on from it after a virus disrupted it for 3 months.
