True but teachers can also expand on the content and a good history teacher would. They are not limited to what is just in the text and what’s given to them.

lot of teachers, even the good ones and those in "good" schools, struggle to get all the required teaching done, let alone expanding upon what is required.

Nobody said it was easy. It is one of the challenges of the job. I’m not saying a teacher is bad if they don’t reach some high standard.

We don’t at our school. For most of our upper level classes we don’t even use text books. Primary sources are the standard.
