For reference, they released 289 action items in 2015, and completed 219 of them. An excerpt about the goal/focus of fines: Quote Create new regulations for social media platforms, starting with a requirement that all platforms remove illegal content, including hate speech, within 24 hours or face significant penalties. This should include other online harms such as radicalization, incitement to violence, exploitation of children, or creation or distribution of terrorist propaganda. The far-right is already throwing a hissy fit over the plan. Noted racist Ezra Levant says: 1 Quote
Brick Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Ezra Levant is just pissy because it means his Alt-right website Rebel Media, AKA Canuck Breitbart, might get fined too much/finally shut down. Quote
Guest Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Canadian censorship is an embarrassment. But fortunately you guys have a lot else going for you! Quote

CitizenVectron Posted December 14, 2019 Author Posted December 14, 2019 I mean...Canada and Europe seem to be better places than the US for the vast majority of their citizens...so criticism of our free speech (which is 95% as free) is pretty hollow. People say our hate speech laws are bad, but it's hard to find more than a few examples of how they've hurt people, compared to the countless examples of how perfectly-free speech in the US causes massive harm to the public good. He's the manifestation of popular racialized grievance politics to date in the 21st century. His election, and subsequent administration is the most openly white supremacist since the Wilson administration a century ago. One of his closest advisors, the architect of our border policy, Stephen Miller, regularly reads and promotes racist garbage from sites like vdare and brietbart, which make their rounds regularly among white supremacist alt right types which would seemingly be banned under this Canadian guidance. I mean reportedly a neonazi/white supremacist ban on Twitter, if applied to the US, would ban "some" Republican politicians Quote
Guest Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 You have given no examples of speech that leads to Donald Trump. Try and give actual examples! Well, you don’t have to, it’s CV that made the claim in the first place and I’d like him to actually back up his claim. 14 minutes ago, b_m_b_m_b_m said: I mean reportedly a neonazi/white supremacist ban on Twitter, if applied to the US, would ban "some" Republican politicians You should read the article again, it doesn’t mean what you are trying to imply.
