The act provides an exception for the president and vice president, but not employees of the White House, the agency said in a statement. "Ms. Conway’s violations, if left unpunished, would send a message to all federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act’s restrictions. Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system—the rule of law," the agency added. The OSC ruled in March 2018 that Conway violated the Hatch Act in 2017 when she expressed support for GOP candidate Roy Moore, and against Democratic candidate Doug Jones, in Alabama's special Senate election. Greatoneshere Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I remember back when it happened during the Moore debacle and this possibility came up. I'm glad there was follow through but we all know nothing will happen. But hey, nice to go through the motions and get everything on the record at least. Quote
b_m_b_m_b_m Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Anyone who isn't pardoned by the orange one who so flagrantly violates the law, like kellyanne here, should be put on trial during the next administration. The failure of the Obama administration to prosecute bush admin officials involved in torture and other war crimes set the modern prescient that you can break the law and get away with it. I hope the Biden "let bygones be bygones" types don't let this shit to continue to fly, or it will only get worse. I hope questions like this come up for democrats, and they answer that lawbreaking should be brought to trial. Accountability needs to start somewhere. And if it's used against democrats in the future, the answer is: so what? Don't break the fucking law. Quote

Greatoneshere Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 11 minutes ago, SilentWorld said: What was the Moore debacle? Roy Moore ran for a senate seat in Alabama during a special election in 2017. He had sexual assault allegations made against him by women who were under age at the time. Basically, it was pretty much confirmed that Roy Moore was a pedophile and Kellyanne Conway said everyone should vote for him over democrat Doug Jones anyway (because, ya know, party before country and party before the American people). And Roy Moore almost won! Because that's how sad and pathetic things are. Doug Jones, while a conservative Democrat, is the one who saw justice done as a prosecutor for four underage black girls who were killed in a church fire by white supremacists in a state where no one gave a shit when it happened when he was a practicing attorney. By comparison, Roy Moore is a pedophile. And the election was SUPER close. Ya know, both sides, blah blah blah. Welcome to America. 1 1 Quote
