AbsolutSurgen Posted September 22, 2021 Share Posted September 22, 2021 China currently has over half of the worlds coal plant power generating capacity (just over 1,000,000 MW). They have another 100,000 actively under construction, and another 160,000 that have been announced and are in the pre-construction phase. To put this in perspective, the US has ~230,000 MW of operating coal plants (and has retired 120,000 MW of plants in the last 20 years). How dare you? It was literally one of his smartest ridiculous lies when Hillary was saying "We're gonna put the coal miners out of business!" (Not the actual quote, but I don't have it on hand) Like, yes, she was right. But you don't say it out loud, and you definitely don't cackle about it on a national stage and turn whole industries into your enemy. Seizing on it immediately was one of Trumps only smart moves.
