  1. I honestly mainly choose weapons based on how cool they look and how cool their moveset is. So far, it all seems pretty viable to me. I wanna get into flails, those things are nasty looking.
  2. I'm all-in on the Rapier. I just really like the moveset and speed of these types of Dex weapons. I have my Dex scaling at an A and can easily get in three quick stabs at a time.
  3. It's like trying to figure out how the fuck some later-game staff you get has an INT requirement of 50 and also Magic Scaling of like 60 vs. my shitty base staff having one of 150+
  4. This is 100% true in my experience as well. I was baffled by Margit when going the path the game initially seemed to lead me...as in straight to the damn boss. I had to bash my head against it at low level for quite some time to rage-explore. I still think the way the game handles that is less than ideal, making the sites of grace point you specifically towards Stormveil and introducing necessary elements on that path. I think it would've been a lot more intuitive to indeed talk about Stormveil and all but also drop a hint or two, in some veiled Souls lingo, that you should prepare and discover adequately before trying to even think of taking that on. Morne absolutely should be someone's first full dungeon before Stormveil. It's WAY easier and a proper introduction to a full Souls level and major boss.
  5. Currently watching Archive 81 on Netflix and while it's a bit ham-fisted so far, I am enjoying it more and more. Hoping it doesn't ultimately shit the bed like most mystery/horror plots seem to but the end of episode 3 was really good. Its descent into surrealism is what I like about it, the rest is so-so. Just remembered that one of the big draws here is actually the score for me, it's really good.
  6. From what I've seen, this game did really well sales-wise. It's nice to see just how well really niche, eccentric and challenging games have been doing the past few years.
  7. I swear I'm starting to get anxiety over how many fucking summons I'm getting at this point. I have SO many and no idea which ones to upgrade and keep using. I did try out the winged marionettes last night and they can throw fire bombs and generally are total chaos which was hilarious and distracted the hell out of the AI. This is one of those games though where even if I have some minor, or bigger, gripe for a minute, I'll turn another corner or find something else or see another vista and I have that massive sense of joy in my gut again. It's funny because even fighting the same Erdtree boss again and again now, I get excited to try new tactics I learned on the last go-round on this one instead of thinking 'fucking recycled' as I'd expect. Also I don't know how they did it but horse combat keeps growing and growing on me and legit rules. Usually anything with a horse sucks. Fighting one of the dragons out in the wild with fire spraying everything and double-jumping over shit is epic as hell.
  8. Exploration in this continues to be absurd. Just randomly discovered some huge cliffside "village" with bats everywhere and a Magma Dragon boss at the end. I went down there expecting a fucking small side dungeon not THAT. There's something about the insane scale and verticality of everything dwarfing your character that makes exploring feel extra good. Also had a massive comeback fight against that boss. He totally destroyed me at first. Turned it around and smashed his ass with no flasks left about halfway through.
  9. You better get used to those gargoyle imps cos they just get jerkier with each dungeon. On another note, I did the dungeon way in the beginning yesterday with the Ulcerated Tree boss...goddamn. That was ballbusting. And @Dimdenwas right. I had to experiment more. I jacked my Rapier way up and added a killer Ash of War. The speed combined with the damage is really damn fun. Rapiers have great movesets.
  10. Finished The Academy yesterday. What an amazing dungeon in every aspect and I love me some gimmick fights. This was a real classic Demon's Souls style one too.
  11. Ditto. Had shit to do all day. This game is incredibly addictive. When I'm not playing I think about where I wanna go next, what weapon to try next, what Ash to try on what weapon next, how to bla bla...
  12. Yea I switched to a Rapier. I love Estocs and Rapiers. Also working on upgrading the whip, the moveset is sick. I'm starting the Academy and this dungeon once again is GOAT tier From. It looks stunning and I don't usually call shit stunning. I REALLY love the addition of the simple and super effective ambient music in this game. I mean that music for the Academy is ultra atmospheric.
  13. I found a [3] somber stone last night and almost couldn't fucking believe it. Had to double-check my inventory. I actually really want to play something else as a Dex than the Bloodhound whatever Greatsword but it just outclasses EVERYTHING still. I wish I'd have more viable options bc I keep finding cool looking weapons but there's no way any of them put out damage like this.
  14. Just saw this on reddit. Horizon and Battlefield 2042 devs being salty about Elden Ring. There were more images and trash talking but too lazy to link. One quote was "nothing about it feels intentional or playtested"....what?
  15. It's not of my era but I grew up with a huge music nerd and record collector uncle. This was a really important album he introduced me to in my early teen years: There's something really off-kilter and dark about this album, starting with the super cool cover. And you could play Don't Fear The Reaper one million times more and I'd still not find it played out, probably one of my favorite songs ever.
