Should I buy a new car next week or a used one?
AbsolutSurgen replied to best3444's topic in The Shower
Extended warranties are huge margin opportunities for both the dealers, and to a slightly smaller extent the insurance companies. (I may have been invloved in the pricing and profitability analysis of Extended Warranties for a well-known OEM in Canada about 20 years ago.) Anytime there are huge margins on an insurance product, it's in your long-term interest not to buy them. Manufacturer warranties are included in the price of your car -- so aren't the same thing. -

Your 54k is all you have for retirement? Are you taking your payout from your pension and spending it on living? -

If you can stand the styling of Korean cars, there quality/durability is pretty good on average. -

As someone who worked at a major automaker for 20 years (about half in product development finance). The specific vehicle from a brand is probably more important than the brand itself. All brands have vehicles that are much better than their average, and others that are much worse. If you're willing to get used, the best deals are usually on 2-3 year old vehicles (particularly low mileage ones). They've depreciated a fair bit, but still haven't seen much wear. Avoid buying used cars at dealers, as they have huge markups. Pay attention to the incentives, the MSRP is not always a good gauge of what your price out the door will be. And for god sakes, don't buy extended warranties, rust protection, etc. -
OK. What I read was that it had performance hits while compiling shaders (which can be fixed if Valve creates a compiled shader pack). I saw the recommendation that you need to turn off the dynamic resolution, because it lowers the resolution to unplayable levels when the shaders are compiling. But, I haven't played it myself to see.

General Gaming Balatro is fantastic, update: 1 million copies sold

It's all about combining your Jokers -- in general, you need at least one that gives you chips, one that gives you +mult and one that gives you Xmult. If the RNG for jokers isn't being kind, I've found it's better to restart in Ante 2-3, rather than wasting time trying to beat it with a poor start. -
I've just gotten into the habit of turning on DLSS Quality + frame gen for everything. Since the cut scenes seem to run at a lower fps, I thought that was the right move. Flipped over to DLAA and in game I am at 100+ fps, so that seems like the better choice. It's really amazing how Guerilla/Nixxes has this game looking so good, and still getting great performance.

Star Wars: X-Wing Second Edition -- Official Thread

Interesting to see that most of the people I have played in my league made it to day 2 at World's. Last week's opponent just made the cut, and will be in top 16. I don't feel so bad about losing to them anymore -- last season I was getting blown out, this season I am at least competitive. -

2 more rounds in Swiss. The captain of my NCX league team can make the cut, if he doesn't lose. Oddly, my opponent from last week's game (we were tied 13-13 going into the last turn), and I lost on some bad dice variance is ranked 5 (@7-1 right now). -
I only played about 45 minutes of the beginning tutorial section. But agreed, the saturation is great. Plus the HDR really pops on the technological lights on the robots/focus effects/etc. I didn't notice any stutter at all, seemed locked >90+ fps on my 4080 -- everything on max. You're not using DLSS?

2024 Formula 1 Season. It’s Lights Out and Away We Go!

I think its pretty unusual to need to revert to the 3rd chassis, has to be a relatively large crash. -

F1 team bosses urge transparency from FIA amid controversies - ESPN WWW.ESPN.CO.UK With a dark cloud continuing to linger over Formula One in the form of various controversies, team bosses have urged for greater transparency from the FIA. Lewis Hamilton: FIA trust weakened by F1's recent scandals, controversy - ESPN WWW.ESPN.CO.UK Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton said it is becoming increasingly difficult for fans to trust Formula One's governing body, the FIA, adding that its president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, has never had his support. FIA has always been a little "sus". It's really bizarre that Williams doesn't have a spare chassis with them. -
I did. I haven't played the remake, but I hated the controls in the original game when it was released, and caused me to stop playing the game fairly early on. I understand that my opinion is not universal, but I also think there is now a pretty broad consensus in that the controls were bad. In terms of being one of the best games of all time -- if you're saying it's one of the top 2-300 games -- sure. If you're saying it is top 10 or 20 -- I don't think its close.
