  1. My wife wasn't feeling well this morning, so we got her tested... Positive. She did get the J&J vaccine back in April, and the data suggested it wasn't as effective as the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, but it should still prevent serious sickness. So far she just has some discomfort, and hopefully it doesn't progress any further. I'm still negative and I feel well. Our daughter seems to be fairing well. She was pretty tired most of yesterday, but otherwise in good spirits and she'll hopefully be over it completely soon.
  2. My wife just took her at home test and she came back negative. So that's good! So if she did get infected at some point in the last two weeks, it was a very mild infection and it wasn't very noticeable. Just another reason to get vaccinated. I'll probably take my test tonight or tomorrow.
  3. Our 10 year old daughter has COVID. BUT she was only sick for 2 days or so. She's pretty much back to normal now. We just got back from a trip to WA and we are trying to figure out where she got it from. We contacted everyone she was in contact with, and the good news is that everyone she interacted with, aside from her 10 year old cousin, are vaccinated. My wife felt a little ill the last few days and she may have gotten a mild infection. Coincidentally, she took the J&J vaccine back in April. I have had no symptoms at all and I got both Moderna shots. My company has been pretty cool with COVID - they even gave out FDA approved at-home testing kits from a company called Cue. It's what gave us the results for our daughter. Both my wife and I will take the test later tonight. I cannot return to work without a negative test. The silver lining I think is that since our daughter has gotten COVID, we don't have to worry about when/if she can get the vaccine for the time being. We can also lower our guard a little bit, now that all of us have anti-bodies and don't have to be as concerned over the delta variant.
  4. Our team has been split up for the better part of a year and a half. Later this year, we are moving into our new office building and will be one team again. The nerf wars will be lit. Most of my coworkers are pretty good about hygiene, which is nice.
  5. Yes. Federal elections are technically completely separate from elections for state and local offices. It's that in practice they are all put together into one election.
  6. It's no surprise that vile wretched woman voted to strike down Oba- Oh shit she voted with the majority.
  7. I already carry two around: My Social Security Card as well as my VA medical card. Technically I have 3, including my passport, but I don't carry it around.
  8. Give the Republicans voter ID. Just make it so it's 100% free to attain with no income qualifiers. It's worth it if they Democrats get everything else on that list.
  9. We keep the house at around 75 during the day, and around 70 while we sleep. Humidity is crazy low in Vegas, so both of those temps are just fine most of the time.
  10. My wife's friend in Oregon is anti-vax, and she said she is already challenging stores that force unvaxxed people to wear masks. Kind of a butthole move.
  11. We are in eastern Washington until Wednesday, and it's supposed to be in the 70s and 80s all this time. But it will be nice and toasty when we get back to Vegas next week.
  12. Here's what we know about the bipartisan infrastructure deal WWW.CNN.COM A bipartisan group of 10 senators announced Thursday they have reached a deal on a $1.2 trillion infrastructure package, the most significant development yet in negotiations over a key priority of the Biden administration, but it still faces serious obstacles from skeptics in both parties.
  13. If Bitcoin becomes more valuable, doesn't that negate the financial impact of mining the coins in the first place? If every $1 spent on mining results in $2 in bitcoins they can then sell for $USD, sounds like a good deal for El Salvador.
  14. It would be politically disastrous to take away the metro area's main water source, compared to cutting off or curbing water usage by other entities. Looking at the map, Las Vegas and its suburbs are the largest metro area that is directly served by the river. There is quite a bit of ground water in the valley though. So as a last resort, the area could start pumping water from down below. Most of the water along the river is being used for irrigation of crops in California and Arizona. I think California is going to have to pony up and install more desalination plants along the coast to manufacture water suitable for irrigation use. 15. My boss was saying that this past memorial day weekend, there was only one operational boat ramp on the lake, as the others had to be closed down because the lake level was so low. Apparently there was a 2 hour traffic jam just get your boat in the water.
