It is just stupid how bad things are being handled here. Originally her district was going to test weekly, that was killed last minute by the board. They decided on the absolute minimum for masking and provided a pamphlet to all the staff informing them on what doctor to call to get an exemption to the mask rule. It is just a circle jerk of misinformation, angry "muh freedums" parents that showed up at the board meeting that made sure to drown out anyone that was concerned about the overall safety of children and staff, and a board that has more interest in sure the "commies in Carson" don't get to decide on what the district does. I actually kid you not that in the minutes from a couple months ago the president of the board said those exact words.

Update on my wife's class. 3 of 15 (she teaches severe and profound special ed) are now out under the district's new "exclusion" provision. This tag is is how the district is getting around saying there are positives in the district. 2 of the 3 parents have confirmed a positive test with my wife when contacting to get any school work they might miss while out. The last one she believes won't get their child tested and will just get them out for the duration of the exclusion period. This was a student that wanted to wear a mask but the parent told them that they would be grounded if they found out they were wearing a mask. My wife of course gave the kid a mask anyway at the student's request.

Republicans only care if it is a non-republican President's watch. Remember "he knew what they signed up for?" Yeah, where was the crazy amounts of outrage by republicans for that comment.

So my wife's school district seems to have enacted a policy of as long as we don't tell anyone positives aren't a thing nobody that was in contact can get it. Today she found out from a parent that one of her students tested positive and was in her room for 2 hours yesterday. We are no on the will she or won't she get it watch. While she is vaccinated she has been having issues with allergies and asthma (including a bout last week where she had to go on a med that warning that it could reduce immunity. If she does get it we are looking at joining a lawsuit with a couple of other teachers that have already tested positive after last weeks teacher in-service (which thankfully she missed due to the above asthma issue).

So my wife's school had a small but loud group of "adults" yelling at students and teachers that decided to wear masks that they were going to hell for doing so. Not a bad first day of school. Police said nothing could be done as they filed the paperwork to gather and where not on school property. Good times in rural Nevada. I mean kudos to them for committing to the cause when this morning's air quality was in the hazardous range. Also some good news. My son qualifies for getting his 3rd dose this week as he works in a hospital setting with elderly. He just got a call while he was on lunch and they told him that.

No Nevada isn't really an outlier. Between tourism bringing things in and the rurals fighting tooth and nail over any protective measures, it does not surprise me that we are in the situation that we are in here. Elko County just seen 2 school board members and superintendent resign suddenly after anti-maskers got their way on a vote that seen dead animal dumped on the lawns of those that supported masking in the district. Churchill County School District is advising teachers to go get doctor's notes to get around mask requirements put in place because of their elevated risk status. Teachers that are worried there are being threatened by parents and some staff if they want to wear masks. Our local hospital is having an outbreak on the elderly center because the nurses here refuse the vaccine and get pissed off that they have to mask in the hospital. Hell, I was bitched at by a lady on a oxygen machine at the local hardware store today because I had a mask on. Like "Bitch, I am doing this just in case I run in to people like you that struggle to breathe normal air." Outside of Reno, Carson City and the Las Vegas area (even in Clark County with some) Nevada wishes it was a Southern state.

Really amazing to see how we can fuck up so badly not once but twice in my lifetime. We are doing nothing hear but setting ourselves up for another retaliatory attacks by the same people we failed to help... again.

I am really tired of the smoke. I think we have had 2 or 3 days since early May where you could tell the sky was blue. I haven't seen the stars in what feels like forever. It seriously can't be healthy unless you have the filtration of the casinos here to breathe this shit in all the time. To top it off, COVID is reestablishing itself nicely here.

80 People Exposed To COVID-19 At Marce Herz Middle School, Parent Knew WWW.KTVN.COM There was a positive case of COVID-19 confirmed at Marce Herz Middle School. So the parent knew the kid had a positive test and still sent them to school. I expect to see a ton of reports like that as schools start getting in session.

Hey, that 3 year old in section 305 made a compelling argument to Ken Kendrick on why he should replace Reddick.
