  1. Credibility is not relevant. It doesn’t matter. The most unique circumstance when it comes to America’s gun violence problem is the prevalence of gun ownership. Everything else is a distraction, attempts to find a symptom and call it the disease, or seeks to obfuscate through semantics like defining “mass shooting” differently / saying something isn’t violent because the shooter aimed the gun at their own head. “But gangland shootings,” is a red herring.
  2. We need @legend to create shopping bots for D1Pshits to beat the scalpers.
  3. Honestly this looser approach is probably for the best. It’s presently driving me insane that everyone was seeing the literal devil everywhere in WandaVision but also seems to find it unbelievable that a black man would need and be unable to get a loan, so... whatever just let it all ride.
  4. This is... the definition of grooming? I get that it’s not as gross as plenty of other examples we’ve seen but it’s pretty plainly grooming.
  5. Super surprising that an outfit that gave us JonTron and Egoraptor might be problematic.
  6. ND games are cinematic enough that I still wonder why they’d bother doing Joel and Ellie’s story again even if some episodes will deviate greatly.
  7. I really ,irked the first few episodes of Superman and Lois... the last one felt a bit too bloated and I hope that’s not the overall direction of the show.
  8. A lot of this stems from Snyder’s complete lack of interest in developing the human side of characters like Superman. Clark has to work at the Daily Planet because he does in the comics, but he has no real reason to. He has no education in the field and in BvS they establish that Metropolis and Gotham are sister cities... and Clark doesn’t know who Bruce Wayne is. But if Clark and Lois work for The Daily Planet then of course that’s what Luthor is going to attack even if it makes no sense. I agree with this. It makes no sense to have Darkseid reveal the anti-life then be surprised when Steppenwolf finds it, then not immediately boom tube to earth to get it. Yeah agreed. I’m surprised to find that I think there’s a good 2+ hour movie in the Snyder Cut, but as it is it’s not good. There are some really good moments and scenes but the cut as is remains a mess.
  9. $400K is a dank salary but in general I don't have an issue with the amount... just shut the fuck up about your taxes and that you cannot buy literally anything you want. Kylie Jenner setting up a gofundme for an amount that I assume is pocket money for her is a fucking travesty, and being a billionaire is absolutely a moral failing.
  10. I don't know where the cutoff is for when earnings become a moral failure, but I don't think $400K is close to it. This isn't about "fuck people making $400K," but I'm also not going to listen to them playing the world's smallest violin to the tunes of, "I Ain't Got No Lambo," "My Vacation Was Domestic," and, "The Economy Plus Blues." And yeah, I wish my taxes didn't go to endless war, the police industrial complex, etc., in favor of healthcare and infrastructure, but taxes need to go up regardless.
  11. Right, this too. If you're making 6 figures, even on the low end, almost anywhere and your TAX BURDEN is breaking your balls, you fucked up. Period, the end.
  12. I am always going to die on this hill because at the end of the day there's always a higher rung on the ladder. Even if we take at face value that $400K means you don't get a Lambo and to go on vacation (I kinda believe half of that)... who gives a shit. If you're making $650K a year, you probably can't afford a Bugatii Veyron and to charter a flight to Hawaii. At some point the scale becomes preposterous. IIRC a couple years back to get to the top 1% of household income in NY state, you needed to make around $550K, and the average income of the top 1% was a bit north of $2M. So yeah, if you're making $400K, like I said there's a decent chance you're in the middle or on the low end of income for people in your circle. But I don't care. I don't care that someone living on the upper east side making $400K a year is more adversely affected by a higher tax rate because of their specific circumstances because they're still wealthy by any reasonable measure even accounting for their unique circumstances. There's so much ink spilled and airtime wasted discussing the tax implications for someone who might have to slum it by flying commercial to Disney World for a week instead of chartering a flight to Phuket for three weeks. These people can all afford it. Tax them all. Maybe they'll have to move to Inwood, I'll pour one out for them.
  13. Families making $400K+ a year should have the absolute fucking bejeezus taxed out of them regardless of where they're living.
  14. It is not "sit down and do careful budgeting" territory at all the way that it is for the overwhelming majority of people and claiming otherwise is preposterous. It's "where do we go on vacation and for how long," money, not, "can we go on vacation," money. It's, "how often can we have our home cleaned by someone else," money, not "this second shift cleaning at home is a drag," money. It's "what private schools are we sending out kids to / do we need another tutor / let's send our kids to college without them having to take on loans money," not, "state school and fingers crossed for a scholarship," money. It's, "I'll cook occasionally because I like to and it's take out, restaurants, and personal chefs for the rest of the time money, not, "what's on sale," money. Etc., etc., etc. If you're making $400K in Manhattan, with two kids, and you have to think about money, you're living a lifestyle with luxuries you could afford to lose easily and still live well beyond the means of almost everyone else. Again, it's > 3X the median household income in the upper east side specifically and > 4X the median household income for Manhattan broadly. It's rarified air. I've no doubt that if you're making $400K in the upper east side, you're rubbing elbows with people making way more, but if you're dumb enough to try to keep up with the Joneses who are the 1% to your own 1%, you're not worthy of sympathy. If Trump's mortgage interest deduction hosed them to the point that it affects their lifestyle, they fucked up.
  15. This enrages me so much. Forget “major cities,” $400K is more then 3X the median household income on the upper east side! And if you’re making $400K a year and you “have to” take a staycation, then you’re spending that money on an absolute shitload of luxuries. These assholes making $400K have the money to fabricate their own crosses and nail themselves to them, they have the money to go somewhere on vacation even if they have to settle for... shudder... business class or economy plus. EDIT - also you can configure a Land Cruiser to be $70K+, eat shit.
