  1. I've only seen the online reactions. I don't know exactly what the critics are saying. But when the movie turns into the Marvel version of The Fly about 1/3 of the way in it gets really good. The last act is a bit bland, yes. Like I said: Good no great You won't miss anything if you wait for streaming.
  2. Well it's hard to know because the same people that say "Venom isn't a compelling comic character" are the same people saying "this isn't a good Venom movie." Personally I just always loved the look/design of Venom and this movie nails that. I think it also nails the voice in the head aspect. But this Eddie Brock isn't the same Eddie Brock we've seen in any comic version of Venom/Spider-Man, so I would imagine that is what is making people say it's not a good Venom movie. But I don't really care about that aspect.
  3. Well I know names of writers and directors and watch all the trailers. And I like bad movies.
  4. It was way better than I thought it was going to be. It's not great but it's a solid creature flick at a minimum.
  5. I was thinking the same thing. I hope they can differentiate enough stylistically to not all run together for the masses.
  6. https://www.tor.com/2018/10/02/wheel-of-time-picked-up-by-amazon-first-season-to-focus-on-moiraine/ Yiiissss. I'm only just finishing the second book but I'm excited.
  7. Fahrenheit 451 (2018) - 5/10 - I love Michael Shannon. And he's excellent in this. I wish every other element of the movie wasn't phoned in though. La La Land - 10/10 - I absolutely loved this movie. The music, the colors, the cast, everything.
  8. At least I can admit my opinion is the minority and shouldn't be treated like gospel. I think that's the true mark of a rational mind that totally does not need psychiatric help. For any reason. At all. Seriously (Help)
  9. I probably will if it's ever streaming free somewhere. But I think another reason I enjoy Apocalypse, despite its predictable and boring third act (my main complaint) and other weaknesses, is because it has characters I love. And Olivia Munn running around half naked the whole time certainly doesn't hurt. Whereas in addition to my other complaints, I don't love any characters in Captain America. And I think my liking of Apocalypse might be overstated by some. I think I rated it like a 5 or 6 out of 10. It's not like I'm balls out for it or anything. That's "average" to me. Which is probably what I gave Captain America too now that I think about it. I didn't hate it; it just didn't do anything exceptionally well IMO.
  10. The Winter Soldier seemed like a typical Marvel movie to me (up to the time of its release and a few thereafter): bland color pallettes and musical scores, forcing emotion and development that wasn't earned, heavy handed (re: annoying) universe building, etc. But I haven't seen it since release. Maybe I'd like it more upon a rewatch. True... In all aspects of life. Lol.
  11. I think this movie looks good. I've enjoyed the other three, even the maligned Apocalypse. I'm happy they're making at least this last one and hopefully it closes off the series well or will segue somehow into its new home at the MCU.
  12. Personally, I think I'd only classify Iron Man as "great" from that list. I'll add Winter Soldier because everyone loves that one even though I don't. And I'll add Infinity War simply because something something accomplishment. But that's only three, and only one of which I think I'll ever pop in to watch.
  13. It absolutely influenced Luke's outlook on the Force in The Last Jedi. I love that game so much.
  14. I have Creed on BD and I still haven't watched it. Lol. OMG even Dolph Lundgren is going to be making an appearance? Totally sold on this! Rocky IV is my favorite despite its cheesiness.
  15. The Predator - 2/10 - Would be a 1/10 if Olivia Munn wasn't in this because her beauty can distract you, while only momentarily, from all the genuine terribleness in this movie. It is so, so bad.
  16. I'll just voice support for these shows because they are fantastic; Night Manager is probably the best.
  17. I was typing out a response that was going to say something about how the script was one of the worst parts. But every part of this movie is the worst part of this movie.
  18. Oh. My. God this movie is horrible. If I couldn't stare at the hotness of Olivia Munn the whole movie I would have walked out. I know I just saw it so I'm sure I've seen something worse. But right now for me this is the worst fucking movie ever made, for any reason, by anyone for any reason ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been... ever, for any reason whatsoever... @sblfilms tried to warn us. Why didn't we listen?
  19. My FIL bought a new XS on release day and asked me to help him transfer all of his stuff since he's technologically illiterate. The device is sexy AF besides the notch and the UI is gorgeous. But I'm too used to Android at this point.
  20. Okay but what does that have to do with what a woman thinks? Edit: Disregard. I posted this before seeing the joke was already made. FML.
  21. True and agreed. But it takes a very large small-man complex to repeatedly provoke two trashbags carrying guns.
