  1. Put out one feeder you'll be surprised what you get. They'll learn to sing with you.

That's because the wasabi you get in the states is just horseradish.
  3. lmao a starling was back just a little earlier but on its own. It still crowded out a bunch of other little birdies even by itself. One of the white breasted nut hatches got in an aggro position, spreading his wings like a jet fighter and started prancing. The starling took off and hasn't been back.
  4. we just let him do his thing he probably snorts angel dust
  5. Seriously I had a problem a few years back just something in my gut was absolutely foul. It came out as horrendous bad breath. A few weeks of drinking some kefir twice a day cleared it right up. Now my terrible breath is just from all the coffee and smoking.
  6. We got some feeders for the back recently and it's just been amazing the birds we've seen and all their little personalities. Cardinals are of course one of our most watched for. The males are extremely cautious but the females seem to come as often as anything else. It's quite an event to catch a male Cardinal come down to take food directly. The tufted titmouse is probably my favorite. Got a proud little crest but the coloring isn't outlandish. They're cautious too but it's like they're testing how comfortable they can be. Dashing down for a piece of food then off right away instead of hanging around until they're comfortable now we see them hanging out a lot. We even only thought there was one at first, then two. We saw a third one today so they're getting really comfortable coming out. There's a group of Carolina bluebirds that seem the most comfortable around us. They came out to eat while we were on the deck tonight and even seemed to be a little playful with us. They were the ones who learned how to knock on the window for more food or to alert us to some squirrels. We had a small pack of starlings come through and they were simultaneously amazing and annoying. Bigger than any other bird individually (except maybe the woodpecker) but moved in synchronized pairs. We had two then four. It was fascinating seeing how they worked unerringly together even though they ate up so much of the food. I'm glad they're gone. There are some blue jays that come around sometimes too but they're just big jerks like the starlings, just not as big or as good at what they do. I think the starlings might have scared them off for now, I hope they come back. There's also a small group of finches and a couple chickadees. The chickadees are really friendly and cheerful, love those little guys. Like they just exist to look cute and say hello. And today we saw, no shit, a mourning dove. The only thing I'll say is that it was incredibly meaningful to us. All in all it's been a pretty full first month of bird watching. Anyone else get into it at all?

Been doing up a blender full of fire roasted salsa every week the past few weeks and it's been a revelation. Having some on hand to add to almost anything is a real game changer. We top our eggs and fresh tortillas with it, dip our chips in it, mix it with any meat for dinner it's just wild. It's really nice getting a good serving of veggies too even though your brain thinks it's all just flavor. Like my god it's so easy too just quarter your pepper, red onion and tomatoes and throw them on a pan under the broiler (with a little oil, salt and pepper). Maybe a couple cloves of garlic too and a jalapeno to taste. Literally just wait until it's as burned up as you like it and throw it in a blender with a little extra water and a huge handful of cilantro (trust me on this). Don't even get me started on the fresh tortillas either holy shit. I could probably die before I ate scrambled eggs again and that would be fine but a fresh tortilla, some fire roasted salsa on there? Wow. Just wow.
  8. Seriously though you can poke at it a bit and get it to admit it was never trained with actual posts from the board.
  9. I mean, this is more than just predictive text. Even at this stage it can truly assist with synthesizing disparate information, as if it were an expert in otherwise unrelated fields. That it's confidently incorrect is amusing and hard to guard against but not the end of the world and certainly not expected, especially if you're careful about the information you're looking for.
  10. really not surprised how "you made me do it" became mainstream republican orthodoxy after trump
  11. It literally created an episode of the Muppet show starring Kate Bush. My wife and I got verklempt.
  12. Per usual the truth is pretty fucked up and we should probably talk about it but partisans latched on to their issues and it'll be new problems before they get bored with these ones.
