The Once and Future Pope Benedict is dead
Anathema- replied to thewhyteboar's topic in The Political Re-Education Camp
On the contrary there's almost always a period of time for every pope where there's temporarily zero popes. Like a release valve. -

Please remember that fascism is a permission structure for terrorism as much as it is a formal set of oppressive laws; particularly the American flavor of fascism. -
Art makes you feel an emotional connection to the artist. Many people treat art as nothing more than consumptive entertainment and for those people there is going to be no difference between art-art and AI art. The same will be true generally for art that we all take for granted such as signage, bugs, and clipart. I don't think that's a bad thing. Art that can be broken down in to basic ideas with clear rules whose purpose is little more than making someone say "oh interesting" or "I definitely noticed that and remember what it looks like" can almost now be done completely by someone with different training. That's it. A machine won't be able to make art until a machine has an intent and emotion of its own that it needs to express.

Keep in mind that sticking with your initial gut reaction is how people wind up voting Republican. -

He won't be the head of a cult of personality though, because he has none. -

Thankfully my wife and I had a week of overlap, we were too lazy to change anything last year. -

Also it's like Google in the sense that you kind of have to upend the entire way you ask questions. I want to see a conversation between a person who's a doctoral linguist and can speak every language and two children under the age of twelve (one boy and one girl). They're trying to agree on a list of dog names that can't also be people names. After a long time they find a way to agree on a top ten list. Just give me the list. Marley Zeus Max Bailey Rocky Buddy Duke Molly Coco Bella List isn't perfect obviously, distinguishing between pet and human names isn't always straightforward! -

So far it's helped me develop a highly detailed bulleted list to guide adaptation of my resume to a specific federal job posting, understanding the quirks related to building a resume for a fed job. I feel like if I did this at the computer I could get it to eat my actual resume and rewrite it for me. Also it synthesized game rules between fourth and fifth edition dungeons and dragons. I asked it to develop a chart of rewards for each fifth edition skill as if there was a "town visit" group skill check. Here's what it gave me: I asked it to name a new ship in Star Trek that was designed to hunt and capture criminals and it came back with several choices as inspiration including my favorite the HMS Beagle. I asked it for ideas for film double features that we could talk about on our podcast (remember that?) .. it gave me a huge list of double features that included pairing The Shawshank Redemption with The Notebook and included a surprisingly competent summary of why. It also gave me an outline of an episode of The Muppet Show starring Kate Bush that got my wife and I both, I must admit, a little verklempt. All of that has just been what I've done today in my spare time. Yes, it's a little fun to play around with.
