  1. I remember some people here played this quite a bit in the past. It was on sale for 55% off last week so I picked it up. I played for a few hours to get the feel of it, and I think I like it. I already have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, and I have ordered a Thrustmaster t16000m to go along with it. I will use the t16000m as my left joystick, and the 3D Pro as my right. I think I'll enjoy this better than a HOTAS since I can use the left joystick for 6dof thrust and my right joystick for 6dof pitch/yaw/roll. So far I've just bummed around and explored a system or two and shot some bounty. The biggest hurdle so far seems to be just figuring out where to go. Apparently I was fined 100 credits for firing within range of a station...but I don't know where to pay this fine, and the game doesn't say. Stuff like that. It's also hard to keep track of where stars are and to keep things pinned in the radar/compass. For instance, if I have a star locked that I want to jump to, do I really need to just keep rotating until I see it on my view, or is there a way to tell using the compass/radar where it is in relation to my current heading? Any other useful tips are appreciated!
  2. Good. The fewer people that are proud of something for no reason, the more people that will actually fight to improve something.
  3. Here's the thing: There's spending money to be able to defend yourself, and there's spending enough money to be able to project your imperial power over the world. Most other countries don't need to spend that kind of money. Now, some countries in Europe should probably start beefing up their militaries at this point to counter Russian ambition, but some others probably don't need to. Even if NATO countries all boosted their spending to an arbitrary % amount of their GDPs, Trump would then flip to comparing the absolute numbers and complain that the Netherlands is only spending .5% as much as the US.
  4. When Lando is milked in Ep IX, all will be revealed.
  5. I'm holding out hope that it's going to end up being some totally unsuspected country doing this like Equitorial Guinea, or Austria.
  6. Apparently Trump is mad that Americans buy more European cars than vice versa. Um, maybe it's because American cars suck if you don't want a vehicle that's twelve yards long and two lanes wide? The only American cars that do well in Europe are the smaller Ford vehicles like Fiesta and Focus that were actually designed for Europe (and then were brought over to the US). American cars have been inferior to Asian and European vehicles for decades (the mass-produced ones).
  7. Let's put a scenario out there: Trump knows that one of his cronies is going to be charged by New York state for financial crimes. Heck, let's say it's even Kushner. So Trump orders Sessions to charge Kushner with the same crime, and start a trial. Then, Trump pardons Kushner. Because of this, he cannot now be charged with the same crime in New York State.
  8. https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/28/politics/supreme-court-double-jeopardy-clause/index.html This would let Trump pardon someone for a federal crime and would prevent a state from prosecuting for the same crime, fyi.
  9. http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/395155-kentucky-governor-cancels-medicaid-dental-vision-benefits-after-losing?__twitter_impression=true GOP mature as fuck.
  10. What about the multiple buttons needed? I grant that the simple movements can be tracked, but VR is actually worse than track IR for sims if you need to use the keyboard as well.
  11. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trade-eu/eu-warns-u-s-of-major-hit-if-car-tariffs-imposed-idUSKBN1JS0R9?utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_content=5b39ef7104d301393b664d87&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook A big win for the US.
  12. How do you plan to yaw, pitch, and roll your ship without a joystick? VR is great for looking around, but it doesn't replace controls.
  13. We will never get another Star Wars flight sim, primarily due to the fact that no one uses joysticks anymore. The best we'll get are single-plane arcade-like games similar to Rogue Squadron. Don't get me wrong, I like those games, but they aren't the same thing.
  14. Of course they are. And this should be front-page news. But there's only so much room the front page these days (and not many papers left), so this will be largely ignored.
  15. So let's say that over the next 20 years the US dollar slowly loses its place as the world's primary currency. What replaces it? Obviously not the Euro since the EU is collapsing slowly. Does anything replace it? China might be rising economically, but they are still very fragile and are artificially propping themselves up.
