  1. The Streisand Effect is when someone tries to remove something from the internet but accidentally makes it more popular/widespread. No one is trying to erase the game so that people don't know it exists, they are saying the company is problematic and are boycotting. Boycotting is the correct word.
  2. Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst have also been confirmed. Tobey McGuire is pending, as they are negotiating (he may not join). Hopefully he does.
  3. Nancy Pelosi in 2052 (still alive after emptying out 184 blood boys): "While we believe that every American has the right to water, that need is being met by the roving water proprietorships, and Senator Ocasio-Cortez's suggestion that we provide it through the government is wholly socialist and extreme."
  4. If you want a rundown (of why thedarkstark is wrong) and about how CDPR is a transphobic company, check this thread out (first post, primarily): linear-gradient(310.77deg, #29AA9F 0%, #098EA6 100%) CDPR is a transphobic company. It's time we stop making excuses for them. | ResetEra WWW.RESETERA.COM Preface: To avoid the usual suspects I want to start out by saying that you are not being shamed for your purchase of Cyberpunk 2077. If you feel slightly bad about buying the game as a result of... They have a history of insensitive messaging and treating the issue as a joke.
  5. Military reservists preparing for possible deployment in Prairies as COVID-19 rates soar | CBC News WWW.CBC.CA The Canadian military is preparing for possible deployment of troops in the Prairie provinces, potentially as early as Saturday in Alberta, to assist with their responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, CBC News has learned. They are currently training in how to deal with dying patients. The assumption is they will be deployed to long term care facilities like they were in Quebec, months ago. Alberta has also apparently requested the military be ready for deployment of field hospitals as their hospitals could be overrun soon.
  6. Just get a shriveled grandma to sit on your shoulders inside a trench coat and stick out your arm to get the shot.
  7. After looking more into the issues surrounding the company and the game itself (regarding the trans community, etc), I'll be passing on the game. The excuse that "they are from Poland, they don't see it as a big issue" isn't valid since they are primarily designing the game for much more secular and progressive western nations. They know what modern values are and they are choosing to be edgelords anyway.
  8. Also this sort of research and funding always ends up having huge side bonuses in breakthroughs.
  9. In some good news (since there will be many people who forget to—or choose to not to—receive the second dose), the Pfizer vaccine provides strong protection after the first dose. Something like 50% after the first dose, and 95% after the second: Pfizer’s Vaccine Offers Strong Protection After First Dose - The New York Times NYTI.MS The Food and Drug Administration’s first analysis of the clinical trial data also found that the coronavirus vaccine worked well regardless of a volunteer’s race, weight or age.
  10. Yeah I think government employees shouldn't have a choice, except if they can prove they could have an adverse reaction or are immuno-compromised in a way that a vaccine could be dangerous. This applies doubly to people working in healthcare and first responders.
  11. Over half of NYC firefighters would refuse COVID-19 vaccine, survey finds - ABC News ABCNEWS.GO.COM More than 50% of New York City firefighters said in a survey that they would not take a COVID-19 vaccine.
  12. We know it lasts at least 9 months because that's how long we've been able to study it so far. However, it appears to be similar to SARS (the virus), and that one provoked 10+ year immunity in those who got it. There have been a handful of people globally (out of tens of millions) who have caught it a second time, but that happens with any contagious illness—some people's immune systems just don't work properly. I am fairly optimistic (and researchers are as well) that the virus and vaccine will both provide 10+ years of immunity.
