  1. This is more accurate. Only "two" of the movies are good lol. The OP is ridiculous. Two of the movies are downright classics which will forever be remembered that forever changed the history of cinema in the same way that Sgt. Pepper did for music, in many ways. Two more are quite good, as you said, and I also very much enjoy RO. The prequels, Solo, and TFA/TROS are bad, with TFA having some redeeming qualities. And this. It's really not hard to understand the allure of cool worlds and mythologies. Space opera is an attractive setting and genre.
  2. This is all correct. The original show ran from 1991 to 1996 and had 52 episodes (93 "segments"). The second series, Ren & Stimply: "Adult Party Cartoon", was indeed 6 episodes long overall, came out in 2003, and only 3 episodes ever aired (the 6 were subsequently released on DVD, etc.). John Kricfalusi was very invovled in this second show, co-writing 5 of the episodes and directing all 6 episodes.
  3. I was so surprised to see John Wick 3 wasn't the end. Nice to see we're getting 4 and 5 at the same time at least. In all honesty it's probably because Covid has delayed things already and Keanu Reeves is starting to get a bit old for those action scenes.
  4. Comparing it to Phase 1 movies is unfair - the formula Captain Marvel steals from wholesale over and over again are the standard MCU origin story template/formula used by the MCU previously. There's no question it's an improvement over Phase 1, but that's not surprising, it should be. But it still felt pretty bog standard. The best measure is how often are people rewatching this vs. Winter Soldier or Civil War? None of these movies will ever be Dunkirk or Logan or The Dark Knight, so the MCU's primary role is as pure blockbuster entertainment and rewatchability for the most part and little else.
  5. I mean, this is Sony (and Guerrilla Games) getting its feet wet for the first time ever in the PC space. I have to say, it's great but just so strange to even see a Sony first party game on the PC in the first place that I'm grateful for that alone, port or no port. Death Stranding and FF7R were always coming to PC, but to now get Horizon Zero Dawn and MLB The Show 21 on PC as well - there's definitely a sea change afoot and I imagine each PC port from Sony will be better than the last.
  6. Great choice, though her first film Little Woods was very divisive. Critics loved the film but audiences did not like it much at all. I'm interested in the rebooted Candyman, so we'll see - if that turns out good too then there's hope. It's a shame since the first film also had a great pair of directors and that movie came out pretty average. I've only ever seen it once, in theaters, and unlike a lot of MCU films, I have no real interest in returning to it. It wasn't bad, just felt like more of the same origin story stuff we've seen MCU-style over and over again. I mean, is anyone rewatching Captain Marvel with any frequency?
  7. Whoa - I loved the show by comparison and felt Alex Garland knocked it out of the park. Very Kubrickian in filmmaking style.
  8. Not that I've noticed but I really do use my phone a lot less than the average smart phone user, I imagine. Is there an easy way to notice the burn in? I'll look for it. Also, generally speaking, what are newer phones doing that's so essential that would make someone want to upgrade at this point? Asking cause I genuinely don't know.
  9. Indeed it is, and yet, I barely use all of its features as is. That's why I said I'm "still" on one. I'm too busy to use more of the features on my phone than I already do.
  10. Interesting - definitely curious about Yellowstone. Yeah, Quarry was so good! Really was sad to see it end and cancelled.
  11. Created and written by by Taylor Sheridan (great writer/director) - it's on my list, and I've heard good things. The wife and I just finished up Quarry, now moving on to The Outsider (still watching Cosmos: A SpaceTime Voyage as well).
  12. I'd like to keep Pittsburgh and resuscitate and keep Harrisburg (every new state needs a project, plus to help minorities) . . . the rest can go.
  13. Having seen both, go with the director's cut. Usually, it's what I'd go with anyway, but it's the better version of the movie in my opinion.
  14. Yeah, this. I'm pretty sure the average person, American or not, is simply usually wrong, and probably stupid. Remember, technically speaking, 50% of the world's population is theoretically below average intelligence. And when you think the average is a low bar, there's really only one conclusion to reach about most of humanity.
  15. Hah, I appreciate that. I'll try when it comes to your posts if/when I see them then.
  16. I find discussing things anywhere in life (real life or not), message boards included, are a complete waste of time, so I'm resigned to becoming more and more of a lurker. As time goes on, in-depth discussions of real movies is long gone, it's quite clear, compared to when I started frequenting message boards 20 years ago when I was 14. I feel bad these days that I wasted so much of my time these past 20 years writing lengthy posts few read that are long lost to history now. I just have nothing to say anymore (or I try to hold myself back these days) because it has almost never benefited me. I wonder why I did it this long. I like Midsommar a lot, as weird as it was. That's the most that's probably worth saying.
  17. It adds 23 minutes to the runtime and is director Ari Aster's preferred or director's cut of the film. It's better and more filled out so makes more sense - but is longer.
