The old school design would just feel like a chore. One of the better modern interpretations of the classic Zelda dungeon is actually Stormveil Castle in Elden Ring. There were several branching paths and each were viable. You could choose to explore and loot the depths of the dungeon, or you could literally just run through the main gate straight to the boss. But I can just imagine how much fun that castle would be if we could climb walls and use the glider. I've only completed the Wind Temple in TotK, but I enjoy how you can tackle each of the objectives in whatever order you want, and that you don't feel like you're trapped 10+ rooms deep.

I am personally in favor of ditching the super-intense traditional dungeon design, at least for an open world game like this. One of the most memorable dungeons from a classic Zelda game was Snowpeak in Twilight Princess, and that's because we were exploring this mountain and just stumble on this non-descript house, and even halfway through exploring the interior it still didn't feel quite like a dungeon. Now everything feels like Snowpeak. Ah, well I do own every Zelda Amiibo, but I also bought a complete Zelda pack of pre-made tags (cards) on eBay for $20, so about the same price for a single real Amiibo. Or, for the PC players out there you can get them free and use them an unlimited amount of times.

This game is definitely the BotW formula perfected. The game is crazy dense with so far Hyrule feels even more active. In BotW my strategy was always to get to the closest high point and then jump off. And you only had two options: Climb, or Revali's Gale. This game has way more, and adding the sky islands just makes navigating the overworld even more fun.

I'm still pre-first dungeon, but it seems like you don't need to know the story of the first game at all. There have not been any direct connections to the events of BotW. TotK simply uses the same assets and remixes it, telling basically a new story with generic references like any other Zelda game does. It definitely feels like how MM felt in relation to OoT.

Don't ever, not even if you want to see what is so bad about it. It likes to leave behind all kinds of shit when you uninstall it.

Asus most definitely spends their money sending free products to tech reviewers and influencers instead of hiring some competent software engineers. Almost every YouTube build video I come across uses an Asus board because it was given to them. Their mobo\RGB software Armory Crate is the worst thing I've ever installed and it never got better with any updates; and it is definitely the reason I will not buy an Asus board in the future.

Today's emulator updates have given me a massive performance boost. I previously could not crack 45 fps; now I'm hitting 60 quite often, especially after the shaders compile, with bad drops going into the 40's. Those of you with an Intel 13th gen or Ryzen 7000 CPU will probably maintain 60 fps most of the time now. Also there is a mod to make the game world run at normal speed when going above 30 fps, although cutscenes will still run faster. It's called the 60 fps mod, the downside being if you drop below 60 fps then the game will run in slower motion. As long as you can maintain above 50, the game feels normal in my experience.

I'm probably 2\3 through and the game matches the vibes of the new Vol 3 movie very well. The writing is very good, but the gaming mechanics are basic. It's more like an interactive movie with how linear the levels are, so that's best mindset to have when playing.

Oh I could have gotten another point or two last week if I just went with my initial gut instead of second guessing myself. But this week... I don't have a clue on half, vague guess on others, and only one I absolutely know for sure. -
Gigabyte board just setting the SoC voltage to whatever the hell it wants if you try to do any memory tweaking. At least it actually loads the proper default settings when you reset CMOS, unlike the broken Asus boards. But overall it seems AM5 is just buggy. Anyone with AM5 should double check their voltages with the free app HWINFO.

At least you don't have an Asus board. Its really bad that Asus pumps the SoC voltage that high.

Sadge news incoming... Maybe not for you, but for anyone who doesn't have a $500 current gen CPU + 4090, the game may run like shit. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor appears to have major CPU and VRAM optimization issues on PC WWW.DSOGAMING.COM According to reports, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor currently has major CPU and VRAM optimization issues on PC. -16GB+ VRAM usage -only using 4 cores on a 5900x, which is only hitting 50 fps. I have a 5900x. No game has ever been CPU limited to below 60 fps; my GPU has always been the bottleneck, and only with RT effects.

DS can utilize GPU decompression. I'm not really sure what extra benefit RTX IO will do. It is open source, so perhaps these things will basically merge into the same thing anyway. And thanks to the lazy Last of Us PC port, we have figured out exactly how the PS5 dedicates 12GB of VRAM to games, with 4GB to the OS, while the Xbox allocates 13.5GB to games. So safe to say, 12GB will probably be the minimum for current-gen only games going forward.
