Remarkableriots
He was admitted to Hospice Care last Friday. He has been in a deep coma since being admitted. So we got a hotel room and have been visiting him every day since Saturday. My Aunt and Uncle have been married for almost 61 years and started dating in high school. He served nine years in the Navy as a communications specialist. We had just left the care center to go to the hotel last night, and he passed away peacefully about an hour later. He had been suffering from Dementia for a few years.

GeneticBlueprint
61 years married. That alone puts him in the upper echelon of life accomplishment IMO. Sounds like he had many other interesting life experiences and accomplishments as well. Very sorry for your loss and I hope you and your family are otherwise doing well.

Remarkableriots
Thank you, everybody! At least he went peacefully because my other uncle (his brother), who passed away a few years ago, went through a lot of pain. I didn't realize how bad it was until I talked with other family members. He had been admitted to an outpatient clinic, and he died of sepsis after complications from back surgery. It sounded like they didn't have the right equipment, and it was too late to move him to a different hospital. My mom has lost a sister and two brothers in the past five years, with one sister left.
