PC Tech Is there any reason for me not to sell my old 1070 GTX founders edition on Ebay for 400+

Just saw today graphics cards are going bananas and even old cards are selling for crazy prices. Like why? Is this another crypto thing?

It's crypto. We're mining with my 3080, his 3070, and his old 1080. Added ~$50 to our electric, but made a little over $300 at current prices.

I think it's a mix of crypto and also the shortages from the newest models. 1080's are selling for like $600, it's insane.

Using NiceHash. It's my husband's project, but my understand is it's automated to mine whatever is most profitable. We get paid in Bitcoin, though.

Hmm imma probably just sell it. I do have a spare HTPC which I just stuck my 1070 in just cause it had room but  I don't  actually need that kind of power for what I use it for.

In fact I barely use it now that I bought a little media player that can read memory cards directly. Maybe ill just convert it to a miner. Is it worth it to mine with something as old as a 1070?

Probably not. I don't even know how profitable a 1080 is. We're just doing it becsuse we already had it. He's not bothering with my old 980. Though he didn't realize how much the 1080s were selling now, he's thinking about selling it for a better card when stock improves.

The fomo is real. I'm half tempted to put up my 2070 and just PS4 it until this shit dies down.

Crazy crazy ass shit.

     Although I'm grearful for the boards tech experts to help my shave a bit over to pay for my Zotec 2080ti extreme amp edition. It was 1199.00 and has been a fantastic card, but kinda worthless these days at the same time. Hurts a bit, but gaming wise it's still my beast and does my bidding!

I really can't see gamers paying these prices.  With the price of crypto skyrocketing 50+% lately, most people paying that much probably intend to mine with these things.  Heck, I even started mining with my spare 1060.  I'll see if it's actually worth it at the end of the month
