  1. I wish my country was at a point where 12 cases in one day was an outbreak worthy of international news.
  2. It's not thanksgiving dinner that's going to cause problems. It's thousands of people attending a football game or motorcycle rally, and we're fortunately not doing any of that nonsense in Canada. We're doing pretty good in Saskatchewan. 24 people have died of covid so far this year. I'm comparing that to 71 people (a record low amount btw) dying in automobile accidents in the province last year. And realistically, even if the number was more than twice as high, say 150, I doubt anyone would be proposing drastic action to curb automobile deaths. Now I'm not saying that people shouldn't take precautions -- we should, and are. Public gatherings are limited in size, people are wearing facemasks in public (though I wish more people would do this) and every retail outlet I've been to recently has hand sanitizer situated by the door. But I don't think it's fair to call people morons for wanting to see their siblings and parents for thanksgiving.
  3. You're right -- there are going to be many Trump supporters that aren't going to easily move on, but that's not really my point. I think the powers that be will abandon him completely. His supporters are going to find him silenced in mainstream media (including Fox News) and mainstream social media networks will likely give him the boot as well. Sure he'll still be able to get his message out on alternative networks, he'll still have supporters, and occasionally he'll do or say something particularly wild that will get noted on mainstream media, but that won't be enough for him to be the head of a major political movement the way he is now. Alex Jones has rabid supporters as well, and honestly, I'm doubting that Trump (assuming he is booted out of office) will even be able to have as much of a reach and influence as Jones. edit: Basically here's my hypothetical. We fast forward 2 years into the future, it's October 2022 and Trump has been out of office for 21 months. Twitter kicked him off their service in March 2021. Fox News has almost completely shut him out, so has every other mainstream news outlet. If he's off Twitter and the media is largely ignoring him, how does he continue to publicize himself? Knowing nothing of the minds of Trump's supporters, would they listen to, for example, a Trump podcast or radio show? Would Trump even have the ambition and discipline to create something like that to get his message out? I just have serious doubts that Trump would be capable of keeping himself as the head of a political movement without all the free publicity he got in 2015/2016 (and then the free publicity due to serving as president). It's not like he has a history of being the leader of any major (or even minor) political movements prior to 2015.
  4. Maybe? I'm not sure what will happen but it's tough for me to think that his rallies will be nearly as popular when it becomes apparent that Trumpism is responsible for decimating the Republican party. I'm almost certain his ability to publicize himself will be severely curtailed almost immediately after leaving office. I foresee Fox News cutting off almost all their Trump coverage immediately after he leaves office and I would guess that he gets booted off the major social networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc) shortly after he leaves office as well. (this is all asssuming the election goes as the polls are indicating and the GOP isn't able to pull off some major election shenanigans).
  5. I'm not sure what I want more. Donald Trump to live long enough to see himself lose the election and his business empire collapse around him, leaving him to spend the rest of his life a broke, jaded, lonely old man, or Donald Trump to die shortly after leaving office, leaving Melania to spend the rest of her days a broke, jaded, lonely old widow.
  6. I feel like this is really missing the forest for the trees. You guys don’t vote for the president, you vote for electors. If Trump AND Pence died, the RNC would select someone else and the electors would vote that person in. And I’m 95% sure the Supreme Court would be ok with that.
  7. i don’t think it’s bs. the only way i’d change my mind is if he does something stupid like announcing in 2 days that he’s beaten it and tested covid negative. i just can’t see trump willingly shutting down his public appearances and rallies to isolate if this is all just a lark.
  8. Herjavec is a perfect example. He sold a company he was involved with for thirty million dollars a couple decades ago (and who knows how much of that money actually went into his pocket verses other investors or lenders), then went on to found The Herjavec Group and now claims to be worth hundreds of millions. Perhaps. But, like the Trump Organization, The Herjavec Group is privately held. If there was some way to know for sure, I'd bet he's worth less than the $200 million he claims.
  9. With the exception of Mark Cuban, I don't think any of the other guys on the Shark Tank are nearly as rich as they like to come off and definitely not as rich as Donald Trump pretends to be. I'm not saying they're not wealthy, but I'd bet that rather than being billionaires, they're pretty much all worth less than $100 million and probably less than $50 million, and (like Trump) the majority of their income comes from their celebrity status rather than from their businesses.
  10. will it be streamed on youtube or anywhere like that? i’ll be working but can listen on my smartphone if it’s streaming.
  11. What if the development of social media is the answer to the Fermi paradox.
