Played some coop with a friend the other night and played through the chapter and a few sidequests. We really enjoyed what we played. Once we figured out how to use our abilites effectively, we reached some points where we were tearing through groups of enemies like it was nothing. The synergy between the classes that we played wasn't apparent at first, but we were getting the hang of it.

For example, I was the Pyromancer and my friend was the Trickster (I think). We figured out a fun technique where he would pull in a group of enemies (especially the ones that bum rush you) and launch his "stasis dome" which would slow them all down, then I would hit them with my fire ability that causes the enemy to explode when they die. It would take out the entire group in slow motion gory detail. We liked it.

I do have some concerns. I was trying to play it alone and I was getting my ass delivered to me on a platter. Repeatedly. I hope the game isn't one of those that has to be played co-op. Also the rock-paper-scissors thing with the bosses is cool, but kinda vague in how it works. That guy with the fire tornadoes was making quick work of us until I went into my skills and figured out which of my skills "canceled" his.

That said, I'm done with the demo. I played enough to know I will buy it, and I don't want to burn myself out on that starting area.

The only class I’ve put a bunch of time in is Technomancer and I got through it solo no problem. I think I died 4 or 5 total times. First run through there were def times I had to retreat and hide for a bit. But it never felt like it wasn’t possible. The latest run on Tier 5 at level 7 I absolutely shredded through the whole level with no issue.

Obviously some classes will be tougher but I don’t see this game being impossible to solo.

My assumption is we're getting a Search For Spock situation; Wanda will have to let go of the old Vision (that she created) when the Hex collapses/whatever, but will form a new relationship with White Vision (who will be similar, but not the same). I don't think we're getting the actual Vision back (with full memories) as this show is clearly about loss, and dealing with it. To just have Vision back at the end would kind of undo all the themes. She needs to accept the loss, but then have a new hope of something.

EDIT - And can I just say, thank fuck that Kevin Feige and his team of people are in charge of this universe. It's awesome to have people that care about these characters and their stories be in charge.

    As opposed to?

I got to lvl 7 as a Trickster. Next im going to try Pyromancer. Im least interested in the Tank class, but I haven't tried it yet.

Played 3 Player wirh some randoms, had a blast. On environmental level 3, the game is pretty tough on multiplayer.

    Loving it so far.

Do the enemy number and difficulty scale up with the number of party members?

  4. Yeah I assume the audio will be cleaned up. It’s a half second off in my cut scenes.

The loot really is very good so far. It looks cool and it has pretty cool modifiers even at some of the lower levels. I can’t wait to eventually see what the legendary gear does. I feel like that’s when you’ll see modifiers completely change the penal flow.

Ive been playing the Technomancer so far and really enjoy it. It’s skills so far are a proximity mine that you toss forward, a turret that does a small amount of damage and can freeze enemies. You can throw that forward as well. And a a mini rocket launcher you place next you you that shoots an ever growing arc of missles forward. The melee attack is a freeze punch that actually has a small AOE. It is the PERFECT little skill for a ranged class as it enables you to get back away from the fight.

Id say even as a ranged class I’ve done a mix of sniping from cover and firing on the move. The enemies will try and flank you and a few actually dodge to the right and left when running right at you. I’ve been forced off my spot a number of times. Cover feels more as a rest than a necessity.

I LOVE the healing mechanic. I’ve been so close to death a number of times only to have the cool down on my Rocket launcher finish enabling me to pop it and almost fill me health all the way back up. There’s a lot of “phew that was close” moments.

Can’t wait to be able to dig even further into these skills and abilities.

Has there ever been a game with a good early-mid (leveling) game, and also a good end game? If so, I haven't played it. You either get boring grind and then more fun raids/bosses (WoW, etc), or really fun leveling and then boring end game (GW2). Personally I prefer the latter since I don't have 400 hours to dedicate to most games, but it would be nice for someone to figure out the magic formula.

    Diablo 3 says what’s up

Sure but didn't it turn it into a terrible grind fest? Even if you had no problems with it, enough people did that they had to put out a major patch retooling the whole game. That's not nothing.

Nah not really. What seemed to happen was early reviewers rushed through the game and then when they got to Siege mode at the end they were way under leveled. If you played that game like a normal person would, you never had to grind a single thing.

I loved Diablo 3, but never played 2. So this makes me wonder if I’ll like 2.

If you never played 2 at all I’d say give it a shot. I’m someone that put hundreds of hours into it. So after the initial wave of nostalgia I think my insane familiarity with the game will make it get stale. But the story and levels are fun so if you never played it then go for it!

On second thought, maybe I won't be giving this game a try... Was kind of bored to tears watching that video. I guess it'll never quite click why people like this genre so much to me. A shame, since people put in so many hours, and I like games where I can sink lots of hours when I've got nothing else to play. But it just looks so duuuuull.

Its 100% not a game to watch other people play.

What I love about it is how different you can attack the skill tree. You can make such totally different builds all inside the same class. And the most fun is when you find a build that works that isn’t super obvious. The loot was perfect. You got just the right number of high level/legendary stuff per run that you didn’t feel over powered and you never got annoyed that nothing was dropping. It also kept getting better in a meaningful way. So you just kept wanting to keep going. The loot in that game was legit addicting.

That all being said I’m not sure I could go back to D2. The third game evolved it in so many ways, I think I’d get bored going back.

Thank you for contributing to the thread by naming so many movies!

Hold on one sec, I gotta sweep up all this straw you left behind.

To be fair, the zero movies I’ve named so far are exactly as helpful to the thread as the several completely off topic movies you were kind enough to supply. So lemme give this a shot to see if it’s as tough as you’ve made it seem. Hmmmm

The Last Flight of Noah’s Arc

    La Tortue Rouge

    The Mysterious Island

All three about an adventure with mysterious qualities and a sense of discovery. What do I win?

  10. I’m about halfway into Ready Player 2 and it got better. I’m curious enough about the story to finish it but good god the writing is only bearable in short spurts. The writing of Aech’s dialogue makes me want to burn the book.

So I decided to start something to offset the terrible that I’ve been putting off for wayyyyyy to long. Started The Eye of the World last night. Not a fast reader so should be done with this series by the time my kid starts college. Looking forward to the journey though.
