Zack Snyder's Justice League Review | Den of Geek
WWW.DENOFGEEK.COMJustice League: The Snyder Cut is a cold and it’s a very broken hallelujah.
See my comment about butt hurt nerds being upset over Whedon -

Only four hour film I'm interested in watching any time soon is Lawrence of Arabia. Recorded that while it was playing on TV, so I should watch that soon.
This thread is now about how Overrated Lawrence of Arabia is 👀 -
I can sit through LotR extended cuts no problem. I don’t see a 4 hour run time to be the monumental task some are making it out to be.

Ja ja ding dong was robbed of best original song, but I'm glad husavik got the nomination. (Just watched Eurovision Song Contest the other night and I actually loved it)
I was pleasantly surprised to see that on the list as well. I really enjoyed that movie and the music was phenomenal! I hope we get a performance of it haha -
Lot of hater Nerds reviewers out there taking out their frustrations that their nerd god Whedon is a piece of shit. I think we can all agree that in actuality this movie is flawless.

I must be on the wrong message boards because I don’t see the alt right amplifying Synder’s stuff at all.

His Dark Materials - 9/10
I put off watching the HBO show because of how god awful the movie adaption was. I get actively angry just thinking about it. But holy shit is the show great. This is everything I could have ever hoped for from an adaption of these books. Can't wait for season 3.

I came expecting a new trailer. I leave disappointed.

Still not signing up

To be fair I think Imaginationland and the Coon arc’s were fantastic. I assume those were planned out ahead of time.

I discovered Marvel Strike Force on my phone the other day. I’m pretty sure it’s the better game.

That... wasn’t my point.
Then what was it? You said the treatment of the characters was dependent of the audience having prior knowledge of their characters. Your following two paragraphs didn’t really have a clear connection to the first. They seemed to be separate issues you had. -
My wife doesn’t know a single thing about any of the characters and she loved the show and had no issues following it or understanding motivations.

Requiem For a Dream did infinitely more to convince me to never do hard drugs in 2 hours than years of health class could even hope to accomplish. They should really show that movie in schools.

I’ve seen 16 of those. A few more of seen the beginnings of out of curiosity but turned off.
There’s a handful on there I def wanna check out but a good chunk of them I’ll pass on.

Raya and the Last Dragon - 8/10
Yeah, I spent $30 wanna fight about it? I really really liked this movie. This is easily the best Disney or Pixar film since Moana. The message is fantastic(especially given the last few months) but it’s never too on point that you roll your eyes. The characters are great. Yes it’s technically a princess movie but really only on the technicality that they bothered making her Raya a princess. The side characters she meets along the way are also great.
I wouldn’t put in the upper tier with the golden era movies or Moana. While it nails the 1st and 3rd acts the middle feels a bit rushed and the scale of the world sometimes feels oddly small. Also, and this is personnel taste, I really could have used some songs in this. The score is spectacular but everything about this oozed musical. A couple great songs could have bumped this up to the next level for me. Very much enjoyed it.

Wait, neither of you have seen The Matrix?? Then that’s the fucking answer, immediately. Stop dicking around on the internet and go watch that right away!!

Just started Eye of the World. Can I finish the entire series before the show comes out? Let’s give it a shot.

It's his father who was raped, but your point stands. In fact, the whole "love potion" thing in HP is really creepy. Weasley's Wizard Wheezes sells rape juice to children. Not to mention the implications of polyjuice potion (at least when they used it in the last book, it was consensual, though Harry still felt very uncomfortable)
I don't put a lot of that stuff on "J.K. Rowling should have written that better," though. A lot of that comes down to the fact that fantasy worlds kind of break down when you get down to the every day life, nitty gritty level. Like in the HP world, you could make a polyjuice potion brothel where everyone is disguised as someone else. You could bring a hair from a jilted ex lover and pay a prostitute to disguise him/her/themselves as your ex and do whatever you want with them (and you know that would absolutely happen if it were real)
I don't think it was really intended for the audience to break the world down that way. Kind of like how there isn't a single mention of any kind of commerce in The Lord of the Rings. How do Elves pay their workers? "Sorry, I've been baking bread here for 3000 years, I'm going to need an extra $1/hour, Elrond, and go fuck yourself, I still haven't forgotten when you skimped out on that holiday party 1000 years ago." How does commerce work in the Shire? They don't have a central government outside the Mayor of Michel Delving and like the Master of Buckland, which were both primarily ceremonial roles. They also had a postmaster. But clearly, no one was minting coin or instituting a central banking policy. How do the Hobbits pay for beers at the Green Dragon? Is it all just free? Does the proprietor of the Green Dragon get barley donations and give it all away? Bilbo literally gave away all of his treasure from his adventure and never worked a day in his life. Was he just the landlord of Bagshot Row? Also, how do the Elves eat so well? There are no farms in Mirkwood or Lothlorien. You might assume that the only Elvish farms are all the way near the Grey Havens, do they just export food to all the other Elves? If Elves are getting foodstuffs from nearby human settlements, how are they paying for it? What are they producing?
I could go on. My point is, fantasy worlds generally aren't meant to be broken down like that.
I love this post -
Right, the only thing that crossed my mind when he said that was “that’s a pretty nice way if putting that” how you could drag something controversial out of it is beyond stupid
The Snyder Cut is real...and it's SPECTACULAR!

yes he 100% did. And people mostly didn’t like him in SS because they hated the way he looked but I knocked it out of the park there too. His scene is utterly fantastic in the new cut.
