  1. Without frame gen even I may need to use “optimized” settings since it also appears upscaling does very little on its own.
  2. If it is as CPU limited as they are saying I dont see consoles having a smooth time or getting above 30fps very often thanks to the decision to have an unlocked framerate on consoles too. It also means the PS5 Pro will do very little except maybe ensuring the game hits 30fps more often.
  3. Hmm the reviews make it seem like it could be a gamble for new players. You will either love this game or feel unable due to rigid mechanics people may struggle to get a handle on. I think I will still take a chance on it and hope exploring the world by itself will make me want to keep playing.
  4. Story and exploration/discovery are my motivating factors for most games. Once one or both have been spoiled for me I tend to lose that motivation to keep playing. There are times when knowing something does or doesn’t happen can convince me to finish something, but that’s very rare. Generally I don’t want to see/read how something ends unless Ive already decided Im not going to experience it for myself.
  5. we shall see. I wonder if the PSSR in the pro is more to develop it for the PS6. If it releases without ghosting it will be the first upscaler to launch so well.
  6. the GPU improvements could lead to some better ray tracing effects and higher resolutions where the game isn’t actually outputting 4K now. More capable of better upscaling too, but they will need a patch in old games or options in new games where you can choose Quality or Balanced preset when on a regular PS5 performance preset may have been used. So higher internal resolution with a cleaner resulting output resolution.
  7. Yep. DF confirmed the drop in GPU performance to boost the CPU is power limitations They do seem to think this will not be that big an improvement in many situations. Especially for CPU limited games. So if GTA6 is CPU limited on PS5 and 30fps as a result, the pro isnt enough of an upgrade to get 60fps.
  8. Well that’s gonna have the fan bois going nuts with all the lightsaber wooshing. That is 90% of what Star Wars is to them. Another show filmed almost exclusively on the Volume. So as far as fighting goes they have about 12 square feet of space move around. smh. Kind of shit that fanfilms made for youtube over 10 years ago have more scale and spectacle that what Disney has been doing. I will probably watch it, but my expectations are very low.
  9. I like some more news. Makes me laugh. I didn’t actually care for Carano in Mandalorian. I thought she was out classes acting wise in every scene she was in and it wasn’t close. For somebody who can beat people up she barely could convey intimidation and “tough” in her scenes. I know it isn’t entirely her fault as she hasn’t been training to be an actress most of her life. But I was a bit relieved when Disney terminated working with her.
  10. My guess is standard ray tracing where they would be CPU limited since they are still going with an AMD GPU vs an Nvidia hardware solution.
  11. As kind of an aside to Xbob’s impressions; I learned a long time ago not to play prior game in a series unless I need it for story reasons or I already really liked it. Two reasons: the world or gameplay is likely dated and since I have no nostalgia for it I wont be able to get into it. Chances are there could be multiple little improvements to the new entry that everything I hate is gone or not that bad. burnout is the other one. Even if I didnt hate something, it could flip on me like a switch in the new game that I no longer tolerate something. Or I could just get bored with the whole formula and stop playing the newer game prematurely. at this point I can never go back and experience the last game like others did when it was new and at a certain time in the industry.
  12. Holy shit this show is so good. I didnt think they would make tv like this any more. Shit they barely make movies of this quality any more. Just finished watching the first two episodes. Im so hooked.
  13. Ive seen a couple channels do non-scientific experiments, one being Linus Tech Tips where they had an RTX 4090 and brought people in to see if they could tell if they were looking at 4K or 8K. They either couldnt tell or incorrectly chose between the two. part of the problem too is screen size vs viewing distance. We’re getting into territory where to really be able to see the difference you’ll meed to be sitting closer to a larger screen than is recommended. but as far as marketing goes, many consumers dont care. Its not that they will get or have an 8K tv. Its that it can do it. It’s not even like Sony will market it as 8k/30fps. They’ll say “8K” and “120fps” and casual consumers will think it could possibly do 8K/120fps. the playstation super sampling is interesting. I wonder if multiplatform titles will use as that could mean theyre now having to implement now 4 different types of super sampling, not counting any differences in work between FSR2, FSR3, and DLSS 3 and DLSS 3.5. So I wonder if implementation will pretty much be on exclusives only.
  14. Ive seen some say what they played felt more watered down than those games. As if the point of Rise of the Ronin is to appeal to a wider audience than their games normally do. Seemingly all who felt that way wondering if mid to late game will have that Team Ninja depth in its combat and encounters. it also sounded like from early impressions that parrying is very important. So if that’s true then that alone could hurt this game with people that normally dont like souls-like games. And if it feels more shallow than popular Team Ninja titles it could feel unremarkable to their existing fans. I hope it’s just a case of the early game and what Team Ninja were willing to show was just the earliest parts of the game meant to ease in players. We shall see when review copies go out and the embargo lifts.
