  1. One of my old friends from college died from an opioid overdose back in December. I find this tacky.
  2. She always claimed to be 1/32nd Cherokee, which is enough to join some Cherokee tribes.
  3. I realize that filmmaking is the intersection of art and commerce, but some people on this board get a little too obsessed with the business side of things for my liking. I care more about the creative aspect of filmmaking - the money and PR stuff is kind of gross to me.
  4. Reportedly Kevin Feige thought firing him was a bad idea. He tried talking Alan Horn into reversing the decision but he wouldn’t budge. If you have that much faith in Feige then you should be concerned that he’s not able to keep the director he wanted to keep. The decision was made by an out of touch executive who cares more about PR than what is ultimately better for the movies. It wasn’t made by the person who actually has a passion for this material.
  5. Oh wow, that’s terrible. I wonder what could have driven him to suicide. *reads the first two replies to this thread* Oh...
  6. I did and I realize it’s more complicated than the headline is implying, but let me be petty just this once.
  7. Tennessee voting experts say Taylor Swift may actually turn the state blue Those 12 year old girls sure have an impact.
  8. That’s a shallow metric to measure whether it was a mistake or not. By that logic Disney could hire Michael Bay to direct Guardians 3 and it wouldn’t be a mistake because general audiences will see it anyways.
  9. Jokes are jokes? What does that even mean? Comedy never comes out of nowhere. Jokes are usually funny for a reason.
  10. Jokes are either funny because there is some truth to them or because it couldn’t be farther from the truth. What category was your joke intended to be?
  11. Your snark was misplaced. Taylor Swift political Instagram brings spike in voter registration
  12. I saw A Star is Born last Thursday at 10 pm and I could see on the 7:30 screening letting out as I arrived. A lot of them were wearing Venom shirts, but not a single person looked happy. Some even looked upset or mad. It was a funny sight.
  13. I don’t necessarily think society is more sensitive, it’s just that our values are always shifting. Some things are more taboo than they were 20 years ago, some things are less. There’s Somethint About Mary is a great example of the how things have shifted. The semen in hair gag was quite controversial at the time, but the same joke could be put in Family Guy today and nobody would bat and eye. (Hell, it’s crazy to even think that The Simpsons was boundary pushing when it first came out) On the other hand, all the stuff with Mary’s mentally challenged brother wouldn’t fly nowadays. The problem with these “anti-PC” guys is that they never look at the big picture.
