  1. Steam sale is probably only a day or so away -- that price is good until the end of the year.
  2. It is on sale on GoG. I haven't tried playing a GoG game on SD, but I assume it's not hard -- @stepee?
  3. I'm hoping that Ubi does a big sale on Avatar, so I can combine it with the EGS discount for big savings.
  4. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - PC optimised settings and graphics comparison vs PS5 WWW.EUROGAMER.NET Here are Alex Battaglia's optimised settings for the PC port of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Plus: how does the PC ver…
  5. I'm planning on it -- it hasn't yet hit the point where I want to walk away from it for good. I played through Control earlier this year, and while I wouldn't call the combat "top tier", it certainly was above average. And the story telling was interesting enough to keep me going. Certainly a much better game than the original Alan Wake. I don't feel that way in Alan Wake, because I have my nukes -- i.e. the Flash Bang and Flare Gun. As long as I have a couple, I can always easily clear 3-4 enemies in one shot. So far, this isn't a survival horror game where you are meant to run away (because they are just as fast as you, and won't stop chasing), I think you are meant to defeat everyone. That said, if the second half of the game spends more time on what it does well (creepy story telling and atmosphere) and less on what it doesn't (combat and traversal), I won't be too upset. My end game is playing AW2 anyways.
  6. I was actually fine with the first 2 episodes -- because they kept the story moving. The third had a long stretch of arena combat, followed by mild traversal, followed by arena combat -- neither of witch AW does particularly well.
  7. So just finished Episode 3 of the first Alan Wake. I have been enjoying the creepy atmosphere/story -- the combat is, just not very good. It is incredibly repetitive, and so far (at the midpoint), there is a distinct lack of variety in the enemies. The same guys OVER AND OVER -- and the weapon selection -- having relatively weak weapons (handgun, shotgun and flare) combined with two nukes (flashbang and flare gun) is not the kind of balance I enjoy. The third episode dragged forever (with very little story) so finishing it felt a little bit like a chore. Hoping the second half picks up steam. (I'm really playing this because I've heard how good the story is in AW2).
  8. Using a decent upscaler and frame generation isn't just for poorly optimized games. They also make well optimized games better. DLSS3 has demonstrated this over and over again.
  9. You say you're a fan of them, quickly followed up by saying their fans are savages and animals.
  10. The bottom fans are hidden, so shouldn't be RGB. If I were air cooling the GPU in this case, I am 90% sure I would run 3 on the bottom, and 3 on the top. I'm not sure whether I would add any to the sides of the case. However, I think you pick a Hyte case to be a showpiece -- so I might consider adding additional RGB fans for that purpose. For a custom waterloop? Not sure. But, I probably wouldn't use the fans on the bottom -- maybe a dual rad setup on the side and top?
  11. Part of my job years ago was to coordinate Board decks at a company with more than $170 billion in revenue. Senior management at those companies don't do the slides. They do tend to kick the shit out of their minions if there are errors in the slides.
  12. Those Powerpoints have so many errors --- bad grammar, inconsistent use of periods, weird use of short forms. That it probably wasn't from a senior management meeting.
  13. Let's keep in mind that Insomniac is essentially 2 studios -- and their open world games are much more modest in scope than some others. Being modest in scope isn't necessarily a criticism, having a more compact open world can lead to different design decisions that make a great game.
  14. The Spidey games sell really well (and movie rights are owned by Sony). Makes sense they are doubling down.
  15. The Hyte cases also have bottom mounted fans to blow air up from the bottom to give fresh air for an air cooled GPU.
  16. The Hyte cases support vertical mounting. The problem with the Y60 was it was designed before the 4090, so didn’t leave enough space between the glass and an air cooled 4090. This case fixes that. However, it really begs for water cooling.
  17. The Hyte cases are really easy to build in. I ended up with the Y40, because the old Y60 only had 3 slots for the vertical mounting. They fixed the problems with the Y60 (and you no longer need to 3D print the mounts) for the screen. that case is so huge, will you be doing a custom loop to watercool the GPU?
  18. Life isn’t fair. If they want to call it “dedicated console of the year that isn’t a PC, because otherwise it would be SteamDeck OLED” - I can get behind it.
