  1. The junior partner in any coalition is always punished in future elections. Both the NDP and Liberals know this.
  2. So glad that Del Duca won't be the next Premier. It looks like he may not even win his own riding.
  3. Chickenpox is a highly transmissible virus -- but isn't related to Monkeypox (even though they have similar names).
  4. I said it could, but it was rare. There is still no evidence that there is any widespread community transmission, and only ~120 reported cases outside of Africa. So far, the cases have been primarily (though not entirely) contained to MSM and their close contacts. Monkeypox is endemic to certain areas of Africa (and in some years there have 000s of cases), and there has been spread outside of Africa every couple of years. Because there were 10s of cases in Europe, some experts initially thought that somehow the virus had mutated to have more airborne transmission. However, there is still no evidence of that. In Spain, more than 30 cases have been traced back to a single bathhouse in Madrid, many cases in Belgium have been tied back to the "fetish" Darklands Festival in Antwerp, all of the first 14 cases in the UK were found in MSM, and most of the Canadian cases (primarily in montreal) have been identified through people visiting sexual health clinics. It appears that it is these superspreader events that has magnified the case count this time, rather than any mutation in the virus that made it more transmissable. There are no reported deaths from Monkeypox outside of Africa.
  5. The debate about when a person becomes a person is one that can never be answered. But, IMHO, is mostly tangential to the debate. The fundamental discussion on the morality of being pro-choice vs. pro-life should be on how willing you are to push your own morality onto others. I believe that life begins at conception. However, I recognize that other people don't share my belief, and have valid reasons (that I disagree with) for believing that it starts at a different point in time. It would be hubris to think that my point-of-view on this should trump everyone else's. Being pro-choice recognizes that your own morals should not be enforced on the rest of society.
  6. You've just doubled their fan base.
  7. It's only 13% where I am, and I always assumed I would have to pay that in the end. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have to put another 20% duty on top of sales that.
  8. Del Duca's popularity may be too low for that to happen. Even Liberal intenders don't seem to like him.
  9. Looks like the Ontario election is essentially over. No one ever latched on to Horwath, and Del Duca is still too tied to the McGuinty/Wynne government that was largely hated.
  10. Montreal health officials investigate 17 cases of suspected monkeypox NATIONALPOST.COM MONTREAL — Montreal public health officials said on Thursday they are investigating 17 suspected cases of monkeypox virus infections, adding to the growing… 1) It's reportedly the West Africa variant that is less virulent 2) Transmission seems to be mostly from bodily fluids (i.e. not airborne) - it reportedly is difficult (but not impossible) to catch it from airborne transmission 3) Not much to see here.
  11. Protesting an institution is fundamentally different than protesting at someone's personal residence. Protesting someone's house is pure intimidation, and in this case is illegal.
  12. I'm a liberal in how it is used in every country but the US.
  13. Picketing judges houses has nothing to do with that. Agreeing that targeting people's families is somehow "OK" because you don't like the America electoral system is, IMHO, a bizarre argument. It opens up society to another level of problematic behaviour. If it somehow became acceptable for the Karen's that are yelling at their school trustees to begin picketing their houses, or defund-the-police advocates to picket police chiefs homes, or.... I'm a liberal -- I know you'll disagree with 90% of what I'll say.
  14. I think most rational people recognize they are both wrong. Picketing outside people's houses is wrong. Targeting people's families because you don't like their politics or judicial decisions is wrong.
  15. Atari 2600 NES/Master System/C64/Amstrad/Speccy Super NES/Genesis/3DO/Neo Geo/PC Engine/Amiga/ST PS1/N64/Saturn PS2/Game Cube/Xbox My hot take is that the games of today are significantly better than most from games pre-2005. UI, Controls, Game Play, Depth, Graphics, Sound, Multiplayer, etc have improved so much over the last 17 years.
  16. I think neither are OK. Didn't they prosecute people for storming the capital buildings?
  17. I've played it (probably only for 10-15 hours though). It's really good. I suck at it. Incredible depth for an action-oriented sports-like game, which are notorious for lack-of-depth. There are 40k concurrent players on Steam as we speak. (And it is in their top 20 today.) And it's an Indie game to boot. So, people seem to like it. I'll be honest, I didn't care much for SSX or Tony Hawk -- I thought NBA Jam was great in it's day in the Arcade though. Doesn't really hold up for more than hour or two today. Probably enough to suggest that Indie developers are still capable of making action sports games.
  18. My kids seem to love it, and still play it. And my google search says It is still played by millions of players a day more than 6-years after launch.
  19. I am not sure what the action sports genre is. Is that like the old BMX/Paintball games? I never thought the 3D Platformer genre was that interesting -- so I don't know for sure. I think "RPG" elements elevate most genres. It allows you to play with systems, and evolve the gameplay over time.
