Back home and feeling ok. The ER reiterated they won't test people under 60, but the doctor there did say that she should assume she has it based on her symptoms. Her chest/heart was hurting so they did an x-ray of her chest and blood work. Both the x-ray and blood work came back as normal, so no signs of a heat attack or lung infection at this point.

This is common knowledge to me (as I lived it), but for some of you it may be eye opening. TLDR: The reactor department on the TR got hit HARD, and that's the likely reason the Captain decided to write the letter. You can't simply stick someone else in the reactor operator's seat and run the ship. It takes years of training to be a reactor operator, along with almost every other senior watch in the power plant of an aircraft carrier or submarine. Edit: Not only is it impossible to practice social distancing in the berthing areas of a ship, it's also impossible for the people who operate the reactor plant to do so. You have 5 people (4 enlisted and 1 officer) in a space that is about the size of a small bedroom. They cannot operate the plant from anywhere else.

So my wife has quite a few of the symptoms. She went to the doc the other day and the doctor said she's not a candidate to get tested. The doctor did say that it might be a bacterial infection of some kind, so she was prescribed some antibiotics. 4 days later, her condition hasn't improved and now has chest discomfort. So now she is at the ER - which we were trying to avoid. She just called me and she said the ER will not test her either because they are only testing people over the age of 60 or if they live in a group home. They are going to do some diagnostics over the next few hours. I stayed home with our daughter.

Movie - Thomas Edison (1940) Self explanatory. Book - Alas Babylon by Pat Frank (1959) A novel that details the before, during, and after of a full blown nuclear war between the Soviet Union and the United States. The story centers around a bachelor and his neighbors in a small central Florida town who do what they need to survive a nuclear apocalypse. In my opinion, it's a more realistic take on nuclear war than most other movies and books. I originally read it in my senior year lit class, and I reread it again about 10 years ago I think. Song - Demons by Guster (1997) Guster is a really cool band that has been around for a few decades now. I've always enjoyed their laid back music. Strong use of bongos.

The thing is that Republicans can and do win in areas that do mail-in balloting. Yeah, it's been some time since a Republican was in charge of WA or OR, but those states do have Republican House members, and dozens of state legislators, not to mention hundreds of county and local Republican politicians. Also, lol at Trump for basically saying "Do as I say, not as I do" when it comes to mail-in balloting. That piece of shit just voted by mail like a month ago.
