I think the fact that Nevada instituted social distancing pretty early on has paid dividends. But since the state is so reliant on casinos for the economy, I'm afraid that opening them back up too soon will not only lead to a festering problem in the state, but doing so will cause infections to spring up elsewhere because of all of the flights into and out of Las Vegas.

What country, past or present, has created a level playing field that was also wealthy? Although Yugoslavia and the GDR were pretty wealthy compared to their contemporary socialist counterparts, they paled in comparison to almost every European and North American free market system. Just look at the economic disparity between East and West Germany during the cold war. I know you probably weren't talking specifically about communism or whatever, but that's all we really have to compare free market capitalism against.

Eh, I still think that's a bit too far. If I were a member of that crew, I would encourage everyone who was in the pipeline to reenlist (or thinking about reenlisting) to cancel their requests. That would send a powerful message without further endangering the current (albeit hampered) capabilities of the ship.

I spent 10 years in the Navy during the highly politicized Afghanistan and Iraq wars. My captains and those above them never made comments like this. It's crazy. The craziest thing I ever heard over the 1MC (The ship's PA system) was our Captain threatening to keelhaul whoever was causing false man-overboard emergencies at 2 am several nights in a row.

I bet this is what happend: 1. Trump declared the DPA against 3M, and says all masks made by 3M will not be exported. 2. Deputy PM and VP talk and agree this is a bad idea, and VP promises 3M will continue to export to Canada. 3. Trump finds out that Pence did this, and institute even harsher restrictions on goods going to Canada.
