  1. The Tiger King documentary was merely a warning to humanity. I joke of course...But if this virus can infect and harm tigers, what are the chances of this infecting house cats? That would make the disease harder to track with the number of strays throughout the country.
  2. Fair enough. But I'd figure the streets are deserted enough in NYC that many of these people could take a bike or another mode of transport right now.
  3. So we are keen on blaming churches on potential outbreaks but are pumping the brakes on the idea of the virus spreading on mass transit?
  4. Looking at the state stats, it's very likely that Florida will overtake California today or tomorrow with total number of infections. I'd give it 2 or 3 days until they surpass them in deaths as well. The fact that this is the case is pretty good evidence that early intervention on the behalf of California was a good thing, and DeSantis is an idiot.
  5. It makes sense to me that you'll have have a more infections in the most densely populated city in America with a heavily used mass transit system. Question: Is the subway system still running? If it is, why?
  6. The average person doesn't even realize there are (at least!) 151 countries! No one knew that!
  7. "What do you have to lose?" -Donald Trump on taking hydroxychloroquine. This is an actual quote from today's press conference.
  8. Doctor Trump continues to hype hydroxychloroquine as a miracle cure. I'm sure he'll start talking about colloidal silver soon too.
  9. An aircraft carrier is an even better petri dish than a cruise ship. Instead of 1 or 2 people per stateroom, you are talking about 100+ people sleeping in a berthing compartment, within 2 or 3 feet of each other.
  10. Aren't Germans more standoff-ish than their southern European neighbors as well? By that I mean, they aren't hugging and kissing one another like the stereotypical Spaniard or Italian might. Surprising (to me anyways) Germany has a older median age than both Spain and Italy.
  11. As of this point in the pandemic, the European countries that are being hit the hardest - Italy, Spain, France and the UK are seeing an ~8 to 10 percent death rate. Germany is an outlier, but I've read they aren't reporting accurately for whatever reason.
  12. It's nice listening to a competent leader every day. Cuomo is doing a good job of informing the public in my opinion.
  13. You're probably right. What's scary is that based on the data from Spain and Italy, it's unlikely there will be steep decline in deaths after we reach the peak. Italy has remained essentially consistent at around 700 deaths per day for the last two weeks.
  14. lol, the people with insurance are getting screwed. Drop your coverage now and get treatment 100% covered!
  15. The President won't wear a mask because it would look bad wearing one behind the Resolute desk.
  16. France has been getting hit hard on deaths the last few days. Over 1300 yesterday and over 1100 (so far) today.
