Batman doing a Batman voice is the stupidest thing in the world. Half his face is exposed and Bruce is the DC Universe equivalent of Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos when it comes to fame and wealth, SOMEONE would figure it out. This is the same universe where a set of glasses and an occasionally hunched back makes everyone ignore the fact that Clark Kent is built like a brick shithouse. Who cares. Soooooo true.

One of the few "both sides" things that's true is that everyone thinks the algorithm is out to get them. But fucking toplel at Shapiro thinking "woke progressives" control implementation. Tell me you don't hang out with engineers without telling me you don't hang out with engineers. Smooth brains always think the solutions are fewer people, more transparency, and some kind of gestapo. EDIT - LOL

This whole topic at large is the blood sacrifice made on the altar of tech companies "needing" to grow as large as possible as quickly as possible. Regulators attempt to catch up but that process is slower than the technological advancement and it's done while opposing the pressure from capitalists to "not interfere with the market," and here we stand. It's not impossible to have avoided this but shareholders want the line to go up and the bros that lead these companies almost universally feel like they know best.

I don't go looking through the replies, I know better than that. It's creators posting receipts of people targeting them / creating fake accounts impersonating them and doing stupid shit with them, etc. I don't blame them. The space is weirdly gatekept by a particularly vocal kind of chode, which in of itself isn't especially unique. But it's also not super big; purging the bad actors is frequently possible. So it's often worth the time and energy for the creators to call out the behavior. It's not like I'm following the members of BTS or something.

I find it difficult to believe that people are able to compartmentalize to the point that this NEVER comes up for them and this is coming from a world class compartmentalizer. I said Woody Allen before, but I'm not a big fan so it's not like it comes up often for me. But I genuinely don't see how someone could watch Manhattan and NOT have IRL Woody Allen affect the experience unless they had no idea what he was about. Same with something like Louie. I get someone being able to make it through The Pianist without Polanski's shit coming to mind. With someone like Chappelle, if a Chapelle's Show skit comes up or someone references it, the first thing that comes to my mind isn't that he's on Team TERF. Or as someone else mentioned... not that anyone should watch American Beauty but I don't know how anyone could fail to think of Spacey's real life when his character almost fucks a child.

I don't know how else to put it aside from the feeling that it seems like Elon has a perspective on free speech and moderation that's like Newgrounds in 1999. Social media has evolved to what it is, for better or for worse, and Elon is out there with takes that are the equivalent relevance and age to saying that racial relations would be better if everyone was "colorblind." We've moved beyond that that. We're not where we need to be be and it's not great, yes. But that's not a compelling reason to maintain old positions that have been battle attempted and discarded. Also the guy had fired people from his companies that disagree with him, his working conditions suck ass, etc. There are reasons to think this sucks even if he buys the joint and changes nothing.

Let's check in on how the Metaverse is going... I don't know that I ever think that I'm stupid, but I feel that I'm stupid from time to time.
