~Official 2020 Congressional and State Races Thread~

Divided government is gonna do that, and it's why I continue to make to point to people that you're not going to get compromise with divided government; you'll just get nothing done and complain that Congress gets nothing done. I'd rather have the Senate, though, since that body picks the Cabinet and judges. But man, I remember the first two years of the Obama administration, much of the refrain was how the Senate should go and house we just should have a House to represent Americans. When Dems lost the House, that mindset went right out the window since the Senate didn't allow much of the crazy stuff from the House to get a vote. -

I didn't know that about the majority leader position. Interesting, thanks. I'll say that they certainly mattered in the Obama years when Dems lost the House but kept the Senate. If Dems had the Senate but not the House, we still wouldn't have a bill heading toward the White House. -
I'd be surprised otherwise considering Ghost is in an open world. I feel it's easier to make a game like TLOU2, which is a visual marvel in so many ways, look as good as possible when there are fewer dynamic factors than a game such as Ghost. But it's not really a knock on TLOU2; the game is a stunner. And it performs far more consistently than TLOU did, both functioning as swan songs for their respective console, as TLOU dipped a ton in frame rate while TLOU2 didn't. I'm sure PS4's simpler architecture helped tremendously over the PS3 cell.

Movies Disney-Pixar's Soul has reviews up, and....

I was pleasantly surprised by Cars 3. Not great, but it was a good movie and an upgrade from Cars 2, which was just weird and felt out of place after Ratatouille/WALL-E/Up/Toy Story 3. I was bored by Brave. I looked forward to it for so long -- new IP, medieval times, and the synopsis of the plot made it seem like they were going to fire on all cylinders with the story's potential. But it ended up feeling small. And not in an intimate way. -
They play worse as well. You're not getting a 1080p/60fps experience (or 1440p/120fps as was advertised). You're getting 30fps Hellblade/Valhalla/Evil Within/Sekiro, sometimes 900p games from last gen, and we just started. Doesn't seem to be a point to play next-gen games long-term since it's not even upgrading your Xbox One games that much.

Bernie Sanders pressures Senate to vote on $2,000 stimulus checks by threatening delay of defense bill veto override - The Washington Post WWW.WASHINGTONPOST.COM Sen. Bernie Sanders said he would keep senators in D.C. through New Year's Eve by delaying a vote to override President Trump's defense bill veto unless Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also schedules a vote on $2,000 stimulus checks.

Demon's Soul Remake -- Already a good chunk of the way into my 2nd playthrough with a new build. If you've been wanting a DeS remake because it was one of the Souls games you missed, you will love the game, but there are some things to know since it's the first entry. 1) There are fewer checkpoints -- You're not going to find checkpoints shortly before bosses as you would in later Souls games and Bloodborne. You have to think of each part of each world as an old-school Mario level in the sense that you have a beginning and end, and there's no Mario World checkpoint in between, so get to the end and beat it or else you're starting over. There are shortcuts, and like the best Souls games, you'll get to know the worlds and paths pretty well. Another reason why it's like this is because 2) Bosses are easier -- Bosses are not the highlight of the game as something like Bloodborne is. Bosses can have strats that trivialize them, and sometimes the best equipment to get through a level will make the same boss significantly easier. That doesn't mean you'll kill them all in one shot; they're certainly much easier for me in my second run since I know the strats. But if you were fighting something like Lady Maria or Defiled Watchdog every time you get to the end of the level, I'd wager that this would cross from challenging to frustrating. 3) Demon's Souls -- As the name of the game suggests, you're going to get souls from demons (bosses). As Souls games tend to do, you can get lots of souls for upgrades, but in the hub area, there will be magicians who will take those souls and give you cool spells. You can exchange or cash them depending on what you want, but it helps to know your options. I dun goofed my first runthrough. 4) Soul Tendency -- Like a karma system, you have "soul tendencies" for each world, and certain characters/events will only happen when you're full-on white/black on each world. The good thing is you don't have to commit to a soul tendency for a full playthrough as you would something like inFAMOUS or Mass Effect. You can get pure white and then easily get it to black in the same runthrough. As far as how to influence the tendencies, it may be better to find out on your own. 5) The game holds up very well -- It helps that this is a beautiful game and performance mode is near perfect, but the gameplay and level design and enemy placement all hold up. There's a lot to enjoy, and kicking off the new gen with a JPRG with a cult following that people can play online again or play for the first time is cool, especially if people want to jump into the Souls series but don't know where. Now you can play the game that started it all. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All -- When I first played this game, I thought the last case was the only good one, though it was the best case I had played in the series. Now, I think it's arguably stronger than the first game despite two wonderful cases the first game ended with, including the bonus case with Ema Skye. The first case has some hilarious breakdowns from the killer, the second was a solid case, the third was funnier than I remember, and the fourth is still likely the best case due to the swerves and unique circumstances surrounding it. Now for Trials and Tribulations! 2020 Games Death Stranding Overcooked Resident Evil 3 Remake Yakuza Kiwami 2 Resident Evil 3 Remake (Hardcore playthrough) Overcooked 2 Final Fantasy 7 Remake The Last of Us Part II Ghost of Tsushima Persona 5 Royal Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Demon's Souls Remake Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All -
It depends on your build. Certainly the X-2 levels are hardest, so doing the X-1 levels will be helpful. In my case, I started with 3-1 because I was a magician in my first run and wasn't well-equipped to handle world 2. Also, I'm sitting around level 52, so if you're close, I might hold off on upgrading until you could invade me.

Developers were praising the PS5 architecture to high heaven prior to its release, but I feel like message boards didn't want to believe it for some reason? Naughty Dog's praising it? Meh, Sony dev. Epic's praising it? Meh, they don't mean it they were paid off. Digital Foundry says every dev they spoke to is "evangelizing" the PS5 architecture? Nah man, look at this rumor from this guy who mostly talks about Xbox news. It was honestly weird. I don't think there was any decent conversation about it because of the concern trolling and how it was destined to not be as strong for reasons despite the opposite reaction from developers themselves. This was from JS: This should have been expected
