  1. Looks like the operation is going as planned. It's not all good news though, as one diver died earlier this week setting up the lines connecting the boys to the base camp.
  2. The first 3 boys are out, with a few more already at chamber 3, which is a base station 1km inside the system. From there they can walk out through the water.
  3. In case anyone hasn't been following this, here's a recap at ERA: https://www.resetera.com/threads/12-boys-and-soccer-coach-stuck-in-thailand-cave-update-rescue-operation-ongoing-6-boys-out.51546/ Basically, they entered a cave 11 days ago on foot, and there was a flash flood. They went further into the cave to avoid rising waters, leaving them with only a pocket of air. Over the past week Thai officials have had divers string through cables and air and food. The initial plan was to leave them in the cave until September, but huge rainstorms have started, forcing their hand. 10 hours ago 18 professional divers entered the cave (5 Thai, 13 international) to rescue the boys. It is an 11-good round trip through the submerged tunnels, with some passages being as narrow as only 2-feet across. None of the boys know how to swim, so divers have been showing them how to use masks and flippers over the past week in preparation. Elon Musk actually designed a kevlar bubble coated in Teflon that could be used to take them out, but it would have taken until tomorrow to get it there, and the operation needed to start today, or they would drown. However, he did send engineers that have been working on site. Industrial pumps have been used to keep the water from rising further, but can only do so much. When they were shut down for an hour, the water level rose by 30cm. However, today they announced that they've dropped the level by 30cm from its peak, so the boys may be able to hold their heads above water for much of the 3km-journey. We should be hearing news very shortly of the operation is succeeding or not.
  4. People believe this stuff now. Imagine how bad it's going to be in 1-5 years when the deepfake videos of Democrats come out where they actually say stuff like "First we'll start with aborting all of the white babies, then we'll lock the parents up in camps!"
  5. I'll keep my eye on this for PC...but after Destiny 2's disappointment, I won't be buying this day one. Destiny 2 was free with my videocard so I didn't really care, but I won't be fooled twice by mile-wide and inch-deep content. Also, I wish developers would stop it with the bloom, CA, and glare in new games.
  6. Companies need to hire some people to just make 500 different weapons and armor pieces for these kinds of games, and keep releasing new stuff all the time (not in DLC). Random stats are also required. But to counter the grind, items should be dropping all the time. Diablo III (after Loot 2.0) was very fun to play because even though you needed to grind, you still got legendaries all of the time.
  7. I bought the core game (gen 1) and only played it a few times because it kind of sucked in terms of smooth gameplay. The other part that blows chunks is that it is really limited to two players. You can play with more, but there is no point since it's not designed for it.
  8. Just saw it tonight, and it was fantastic. Better than the original, I think!
  9. These animals are breaking into our country and sacrificing their lives to keep our country the dominant economic and political force on the planet! Outrageous!
  10. My aunt also had Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease. In fact, I was playing GW2 with @SFLUFAN and a few others when my mom phoned to tell me about the diagnosis, which for some reason I remember vividly. She ended up passing away around a month later. By the time she was diagnosed she was already losing memories and was often confused, and she quickly deteriorated.
  11. https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4732583?__twitter_impression=true Border patrol entered Canadian waters to find illegal immigrants on Canadian fishing vessels.
  12. If they can form a majority by doing so, then yes I agree. But in Canada you only need around 36-40% of the vote to form a majority because of vote splitting. However, a Liberal-NDP coalition (or co-operation) would be great, as many of Canada's best programs have come about because of such agreements in the past.
  13. The unfortunate reality is that Trudeau is also likely to lose the next federal election, and the federal Conservatives are going to swing the country hard to the right, including scrapping the carbon tax. Dark times ahead for Canada.
  14. That's less expensive than I thought it was. But in Canada they are $550 or $880, which is still too much for the features that the Oculus and Vive lack at this point.
  15. I'm not spending $1,000+ on that, lol. If I was rich then I would!
