  1. Still assumes these are two different projects, not a collaboration. We could expect some tweaks between Series X and PC regardless. What's to say Sony couldn't do something custom with upscaling again? They're custom building plenty of things as is. But hopefully AMD's solution is good enough that no major tinkering is needed for either platform.
  2. Whatever API Microsoft and(/or) AMD is developing wouldn't be exclusive to one GPU vendor.
  3. They're likely one the same. Microsoft's referred to their ML tech as "super resolution" in the past. At AMD's conference, its in the same slide as the DX12 logo. And today is the first time Microsoft said anything about upscaling techniques and the Series X.
  4. Actually, it's intended for RDNA2 still. AMD’s new Radeon RX 6800 XT promises to go head to head with Nvidia’s RTX 3080 WWW.THEVERGE.COM AMD has three new graphics cards
  5. AMD made Intel CPUs much less desirable. DLSS still makes AMD GPUs much less desirable. Worse RT performance for the price too for the 6800XT, going by the leaks. We're still waiting on the moment you think is here. What's exciting here is the promise of things to come, and catching up on the traditional rasterization end. Like the next-gen consoles, these cards could feel a whole lot better once 'Super Resolution' is a thing. As others have said, it also puts pressure on NVIDIA in the next round to price competitively.
  6. Waiting better fit’s MS, so it’s yours by default. They get to beg the question that Sony jumped the gun, when it's just standard practice in the console space to customize. I’m happy that these console will finally come out to clear the air. I’m totally ready to see what it all means in terms of MS’ advantages.
  7. Sony’s been a lot more cagey than MS, that’s for sure. I’m still waiting to know what the consoles can do RT-wise. They haven’t given us hardly anything to go by as far as direct comparisons go. Things are a lot more transparent with FPS and resolution at this point.
  8. If Sony waited for Microsoft and AMD to finish PC standard for RDNA2, they wouldn't have been able to release a console this year. Microsoft would always be first out of the gate. Rest is just a narrative you're expounding.
  9. It's up to Sony to show that they don't need the "full" suite of MS's tools to compete with MS. If they don't have good alternatives, then we'll see it soon. Simple as that. We'd see those weakness manifest.
  10. PS5 Has VRS, Confirms Activision Lead Artist | SegmentNext SEGMENTNEXT.COM Gaming News, Reviews, PC Hardware and eSports We've already been through this song and dance before. Including your past comments about believing 1.5 should be rounded down. It's all esoteric anyways. There is no such thing as RNDA 1.3, 1.5, 1.7. Just RDNA2 that uses the entirety of MS's DX12 suite and RNDA2 that doesn't. We already know some of Sony's APIs are custom. PS5 is not using Direct Storage, for instance. So it's already not "full."
  11. "Full RDNA2" is just PR speak until we know what the PS5 is missing / has custom solutions for. Especially since the PS5 is a RDNA2 device according to AMD. Microsoft is namedropping the super resolution feature in there again too. Good news! It's not ready yet... or is it? Hopefully we'll get some kind of timetable.
  12. If the leaks are true, it does RT about well as a 2080Ti. But not as well as a 2080Ti with DLSS. We'll see contrast adaptive sharpening being used for performance gains until the real AI upscaling solution arrives.
