  1. 20 mercenaries will land on a pretty planet to complete quests, tussle with alien wildlife, and maybe murder each other a bit across 20-minute rounds in The Cycle, a new multiplayer FPS coming from Spec Ops: The Line and Dreadnought studio Yager.
  2. In May, Wizard of the Coast announced that the Magic: The Gathering would be returning to the plane of Ravnica. Three related card sets will carry the classic collectible card game into its 26th year. Now, it’s announced a formal crossover with Dungeons & Dragons called Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica. The $49.95 hardcover sourcebook should be in stores on Nov. 20. It will include everything that fans of the original tabletop role-playing game need to explore the world of Ravnica, including classes, races, monsters and setting information on its ten opposing guilds.
  3. The game will use Green Ronin’s AGE system, marking the first time that roleplaying system has been used for sci-fi. It’s currently on a Kickstarter campaign, with hardback books clocking in at $50, and has quite predictably passed its initial funding goal of $30,000. The campaign ends Wednesday, August 22nd. 5. The controller that came with my launch PS4 absolutely suffered from this condition within a couple of months.
  6. And to show how well they researched this, Comey and McCabe lost their clearances when they were fired.
  7. Actually, our position is more accurately described as "the right to defend one's self using means that contain a reasonable expectation of lethality."
  8. This is a very valid point and I would say that in a scenario where the State has the theoretical monopoly on violence, then lethal acts of self-defense directed at those agents of the State carries more legitimacy than lethal acts of self-defense directed at non-State actors.
  9. My argument against the "right" of lethal self-defense in deference to the State's monopoly on violence isn't as much a "progressive" argument as it is a "fascist" one. It's a argument based on the "insignificance" of the individual relative to that of the State.
  10. @b_m_b_m_b_m - I see! So the Administration would have to essentially get the court overturn to that portion of the Clean Air Act...or even the entire Act as a whole. Edit: I suppose the ICC could form the basis for that argument?
  11. For me, it comes down to the notion that it's probably "better" for society as a whole for individuals to die because there is no "right" to lethal self-defense -- and for those that do engage in lethal self-defense to be punished for their "crime" -- than for the State to compromise its monopoly on violence.
  12. Explaining how under the Federal system of the United States such seemingly "obvious" solutions can possibly run headlong into the very foundational structure of the United States isn't a "worst-case scenario" - it's political reality.
  13. Except those state laws could be considered illegal under the ICC. I'm not even sure how the CAFE standards are legal under the ICC to begin with.
  14. The developer of Driveclub has been hit by layoffs after its latest game, OnRush, failed to set tills ringing. Driveclub and OnRush director Paul "Rushy" Rustchynsky - the face of both games and of the studio itself - is among those let go, multiple sources close to the studio have confirmed to Eurogamer, alongside other senior members of the team.
  15. According to a tweet from Senior Concept Artist Joe Kennedy, this comic strip is a huge clue to revealing God of War's final uncovered secret, which Barlog also alluded to during the panel itself, mentioning that the answer lies within Kratos' own home, which players find themselves in during several intervals in the main story.
  16. If you recall, it was about a year ago that Marc Laidlaw published "Epistle 3" which was essentially the plot synopsis for Half-Life 2: Episode 3. In an interview, Chet Faliszek (who left Valve in May 2017) says that Laidlaw's publishing of the synopsis caught him by surprise.
