HGLatinBoy
EA is dropping the origin name for something that just rolls off the tongue http://www.gamesindustry.biz//favicon.ico EA furthers its strategy for "frictionless," "democratized" gaming WWW.GAMESINDUSTRY.BIZ SVP Mike Blank shares the goals behind the publisher's recent moves to Game Pass and Steam, and rebrands of first EA Play, and now Origin Its hilarious to me how people were tripping balls over origin back when it "launched" it really was just EA Download Manager with a new name but it did evolve into a hideous monster
Commissar SFLUFAN
That's one lousy rebranding.
Keyser_Soze
EA Desktop App sounds very imaginative and fun!
Brick
Might as well just end it, and transfer all games over to Steam.

Yeah but like transfer my games that I already bought, sort of like what Destiny 2 did when it moved from Battle.net to Steam, not just put their games back up for sale on Steam. A long time ago you could do the reverse. You could copy your CD key for an EA game bought on steam and use it to clam your game in origin. I think you could do this with Dead Space and Dragon Age maybe Mirror's Edge

Well when they started selling their stuff exclusively on origin it was a nice way to get your games on both. Also, at least for The Sims 3, the steam version would stop getting patched while the Origin version usually got updates.
AbsolutSurgen
The Beta is out for this. Shame that it doesn't support Squadrons -- what good is a launcher that doesn't work with the new games?
Mr.Vic20
I'm guessing this only exists as a thing to allow those who bought items through Origin to continue to have access to their existing libraries.
