N64 Emulation about to get insane (RT, DLSS, more 60fps hacks, etc)

This is gonna be fucking awesome. Ray tracing doesn't just mean fancy reflections, it also can mean very high quality lighting, and lighting is extraordinarily important for things to look good, and is one area many games are still deficient in. If there are talented devs adding high quality RT to N64 titles that actually takes advantage of what RT is good at, be prepared for some N64 games that weirdly look better in some ways than some of our "best looking" games that don't take lighting seriously.

Yeah reflections are the easiest to show off I think especially in stills (and are rad!) but RT GI is the main thing to me that can make a game stand out as truly current gen. It’s a total game changer and gets me moist.

From the rest of the twitter thread, it sounds like most of the lighting will still need some degree of hand tuning.  So it could be a while for many games to get done.

Still I’m really looking forward to it when it is.

I really hate that RT has mostly become “look at these reflections!”
