Mr.Vic20
Yup! I like Nvidia product, but this is no so great for the industry as a whole.
Air_Delivery
Damn this would smash nvda if that happens. As an AMD holder this makes me happy as them having ARM makes me nervous.
Commissar SFLUFAN
It's worth noting that the regulators in both the UK and EU have expressed serious reservations about the deal. Quote The deal has been widely expected to fall apart after facing opposition in the chip industry. UK regulators said last month that they would launch an in-depth probe of the deal, and it is also under scrutiny in the European Union. I'd say that it's all but officially scuttled at this point. Ghost_MH
50 minutes ago, marioandsonic said: Is this something that would make the cost of GPUs finally go down? Completely unrelated. That's more caused by a simple raw material and capacity shortage. More and more silicon is getting sold every day, capacity isn't keeping up, and COVID continues to fuck with the supply chain at every level. Either way, I approve. ARM should not be owned by anyone selling their own chips.
Commissar SFLUFAN
EU regulators pause investigation into Nvidia, ARM deal WWW.REUTERS.COM EU antitrust regulators have temporarily halted their investigation into Nvidia's bid for British chip designer ARM, the largest ever chip deal, as they await more information, according to a European Commission filing. Quote EU antitrust regulators have temporarily halted their investigation into Nvidia's (NVDA.O) bid for British chip designer ARM, the largest ever chip deal, as they await more information, according to a European Commission filing. The European Commission stopped the clock on its previous deadline on Nov. 25. Such delays have been common since the COVID-19 pandemic as companies try to gather data from customers struggling with lockdown restrictions and staff shortages. Ghost_MH
Well, so much for that. NVIDIA-Arm Acquisition Officially Nixed, SoftBank to IPO Arm Instead WWW.ANANDTECH.COM I'm guessing nobody that wouldn't also be a similar antitrust issue is very interested in acquiring ARM. I have like five dollars in my wallet, but Softbank stopped returning my calls after they fired me.
