  1. That Kilo is turbo-fucked. The surrounds are blurred because it's an OPSEC thing... but we all know what drydock this was in. I don't know why whoever put the pics out did that.
  2. She needs to keep that mess in the JC Penny's changing room at the dying mall where it belongs.
  3. I gotta be honest, I sort of expected there to be surveillance in a theater, but I had no idea how good the night vision would be.
  4. My dog had that several years ago. I recommend doing the recommended physical therapy afterwards. It'll help shorten recovery and get them back to normal. Also, my dog LOVED the water treadmill.
  5. For one, that's probably the biggest near-miss we've had since the Cold War. I don't want to hint that it would escalate to a nuclear exchange. But a Russian jet shooting down and killing 30 RAF personnel would really cause some big escalations. I would imagine had this happened, the UK might have invoked Article 4 of the NATO charter to consult the alliance about how to respond. But what gets me is this reporting. The story out of the British Press is the pilot went rogue. That isn't what happened. It was an interpretation mistake between the Russians: But what's even crazier is that BOTH of the missiles missed. The first didn't lock and the second didn't ignite. This is where my religious upbringing comes to the fore. The potential for absolute disaster here was extremely high and not one but TWO extremely unlikely things happened one right after the other. That's nothing short of miraculous providence to me.
  6. I pissed twice in the 30 minutes before Oppenheimer started and still barely made it to the end credits. 3 hours is apparently my limit. I'm gonna wait for this to show up on home streaming so I can hit pause about half-way through and Seven Samurai this bitch.
  7. I am very much into a sub getting destroyed. Are we (OSINT posters) sure that the landing ship isn't the one that got hit by a naval drone a couple weeks back? Could they have moved that one into the drydock for repair and then it was struck with cruise missiles to keep it out of commission? Also, the retaking of the oil rig towers took naval radars out of commission, preventing Russia from being able to see what all was happening. The approaches to Sevastopol were likely degraded, allowing the bombers to get close enough to launch cruise missiles without warning. And if they used 10 cruise missiles, I would assume that means 5+ Su-24s (or other types) have been upgraded to carry the weapons.
  8. Yep. We're all in this together. That's why I'm glad they're treating it like its own thing. Knowing the backstory is definitely great for understanding the characters and catching more subtle things, but calling back to things completely new really is a good way of keeping new viewers engaged.
  9. Exactly. Baylan referred to something we haven't seen. But we know that between the end of Rebels/Return of the Jedi and when this takes place, an independent Mandalore is retaken by the Empire (Moff Gideon, defeating Bo Katan Kryze), then absolutely annihilated. Because of Ahsoka's history helping Bo Katan retake Mandalore from Maul, and Sabine helping her family (and Bo Katan) reunite and retake Mandalore, it would have been easy for Sabine to assume that Ahsoka would back her up. And as this episode hinted, sometimes you have to believe in Doing The Right Thing even when you're so emotionally close to it. That lesson was apparently one Ahsoka learned when she abandoned retaking Mandalore with Sabine in the event Baylan referred to. Whether or not it's the correct lesson is yet to be seen. I loved the recent episode. Lots of good advancement in plot and revealing of character. Baylan as a villain is so so so good. The way he handled that lightsaber was like he was an Arthurian knight fighting with a broadsword.
  10. That very well could have been the straw that broke the camel's back, yes. But I'm just saying, there was probably more background to cause him to make that decision than just that incident.
  11. I think a lot of the problem here is people talking past each other and responding to assumptions. That and, we're all pretty well acquainted with one another and there just isn't much to say about things that happen these days. But from the other side of it, I'm in a different community that has changed over the years and I feel like it's something different than what it was when I joined. And I'm thinking about leaving that community. There's no real inciting incident other than every interaction I have in it is just really sour and not fulfilling in a way it once was. I don't begrudge sbl if that's where he wound up with this place. Point being, nothing huge and disruptive has to be happening in someone's life for them to uproot something they've been a part of for over a decade. It can really just come down to the vibes feeling different than what they did in the past and their participation not being fulfilling anymore.
  12. This isn't as goofy as it looks. This messes up the infra-red and radar signature that guided weapons would use for terminal guidance. So the missiles might not register them as targets.
  13. There is a misconception in the west and US specifically that North Korea doesn't produce quality weapons. Artillery is their bread and butter. We see a lot of flashy news about new missiles and rockets, but artillery is the basics for their army and their defensive strategy. They have the production capability to competently make artillery that works and can be used by Russia in their war on Ukraine.
  14. The Japan vibes were off the charts on ep 3. Samurai sparring in suits that were very reminiscent of Samurai outfits, Huyang holding holo-thingys that look like big bundles of hay that might be used for katana targets, then a time jump to the snub fighters looking like Imperial Japanese Zeros I really dig it. There's some "yeah, whatever" moments (Ahsoka suited up into that space suit real fast), but it's entertaining and engaging.
  15. I like this show. It's not Andor, but not everything can be. Rebels Season 5 isn't far off the mark.
  16. This board is an absolute shadow of what it used to be. The news is just a drag. There are fewer users now. Those combine to have there be less conversation overall. And we've picked up another Demut somehow, so that becomes the main topic of conversation because nothing else is interesting enough to talk about. I appreciate Wade posting updates to the Ukraine thread. Those intel assessments are great. Beyond that, political discussions are just exhausting. I think everyone is worn out. Shitposting only gets you so far when it comes to engagement.
