  1. Not really the direction I believe was intended, but the irony is quite eloquent.
  2. “The real test is this. Suppose one reads a story of filthy atrocities in the paper. Then suppose that something turns up suggesting that the story might not be quite true, or not quite so bad as it was made out. Is one’s first feeling, “Thank God, even they aren’t quite so bad as that,” or is it a feeling of disappointment, and even a determination to cling to the first story for the sheer pleasure of thinking your enemies as bad as possible? If it is the second then it is, I am afraid, the first step in a process which, if followed to the end, will make us into devils. You see, one is beginning to wish that black was a little blacker. If we give that wish its head, later on we shall wish to see grey as black, and then to see white itself as black. Finally, we shall insist on seeing everything—God and our friends and ourselves included—as bad, and not be able to stop doing it: we shall be fixed forever in a universe of pure hatred.” -CS Lewis CEB, take notes ...
  3. Hey, same to you, Best! We are doing really well, thanks. I've been really busy, and haven't really had time to post much.
  4. Yeah, I read this earlier, and have known this to be the case, but what I was getting at is that there are a lot of people who look at it in terms of being tough. The thought that they will be fine, or are not worried if they get it, yet have trouble thinking about the fact that even if they are tough and not worried, then they should at least be caring enough for others to understand that it's not about themselves.
  5. Yeah, those are like the remaining Trump supporters who are not going to be persuaded by any level of logic, knowledge, or reasoning.
  6. Yeah, it's mandated here for all places of businesses to require masks, so even those who don't believe in them still wear them.
  7. I understand what you asked, I just didn't answer very well. I hope I changed some minds recently, but I honestly don't know if I have or not. A couple people seemed to be pretty receptive and saying things like "I haven't thought of it that way..." but they could very well have just dismissed it after. I never asked if their mind has changed and for those people, I haven't really kept up a dialogue.
  8. One thing I've learned from this, (yes i'm slow) is the importance of getting a flu shot. I used to always look at it from my own personal perspective and thought "I don't really need one" instead of just how important it can be for other people if I get one. This is one parallel I find helps in discussions of masks, that a lot of anti-maskers fail to understand. That its not about them, but rather its about other people.
  9. I have truthfully changed a few minds about masks... granted they were not Trump supporters. But yeah, It's getting harder to find such people.
  10. I don't think so, but I think it has a chance of changing the mind of someone who is actually skeptical yet open minded about the issue. More information in the affirmative, usually helps.
  11. To the topic at hand, I too have given up trying to change the thinking of Trump supporters. The time for redemption has passed, for the vast majority of them, but they are still people and I will treat them as such.
  12. I really like @Greatoneshere and so if I had anything to do with him leaving, then please come back. The lack of introspection (especially itt) seems to be one of the biggest problems around here, and one of the bigger reasons people tend to be disappearing. People have forgotten how to joke and laugh. It's quite sad.

    What's up?

Just installed new flooring in my Master closet, in preparation for new closet shelving being installed tomorrow. feeling kinda of concerned now that Biden is going to be president, and worried that the Jews might start to replace us.
