  1. Ryzen 5900x, 32gb DDR4, RTX 4090 You’re literally getting nearly 2x mine and @stepee’s framerate with 4x MSAA at 4k. That’s around what I get with 2x MSAA at 4k
  2. This is from Id Software regarding the S being a limiter… 2+ years ago: https://wccftech.com/id-software-devs-concerns-xbox-series-s-specs/amp/ If devs are allowed to truly make it an afterthought, I doubt that they’d be complaining. Some games running sub-HD resolution is likely a compromise to meet the minimum quality standards in terms of playability and in no way makes the S version an afterthought in the actual context that is being debated (despite whether or not a dev is targeting the proper experience on the X vs the S); it makes it a pain in the ass. Also, for the record, The Medium is by no means a truly “good looking” game, so for that to need to go sub-HD to meet quality standards isn’t something in favor of keeping the Series S requirement.
  3. Lmao both the new Intel 13xxx and AMD Ryzen 7xxx CPUs are already seeing price cuts and discounts. I’m seeing the 7xxx series going for about $50-100 off and closer to $100 off across the board for 13xxx (13900k is $570 at Microcenter - AMD 7900x & 7950x $500 and $650 via some eBay store fronts)
  4. @Mr.Vic20can you run the Deus Ex:MKD bench at 4k with 4x MSAA for me, please? Make sure to manually set everything to max in the graphics options as, iirc, it’s one of those games where the ultra preset doesn’t actually max everything (it may just be anisotropic filtering doesn’t go to 16x?). I’m curious to see if we have similar results since we have the same card vs @stepee’s Zotac
  5. I believe there’s quality standards that are needed to be met as there are on all consoles (set by/from MSFT, Nintendo, Sony for each of their own consoles). Devs are asking for those to be either lowered further or removed completely in regards to the S. If there were no such standards, the devs likely wouldn’t have as much of an issue (not to the point that some are now directly petitioning for the S requirements to be removed). Is your argument that the S isn’t holding back the X in any way and that devs are just being lazy?
  6. That’s not what I stated. I think the S shouldn’t exist and split the user base unnecessarily from day one. MSFT doesn’t seem to allow devs to do this and is more-or-less what said devs seem to be asking for.
  7. @stepeeDeus Ex: MKD 4k with 2xMSAA What's the ram mhz on your Zotac card? It's a 4-plug adapter right? I wonder if that's making the difference for you with 4x MSAA vs my MSI
  8. That’s the problem, though. MSFT is currently requiring devs to put any game that’s on the X on the S as well. If that requirement gets dropped, like these devs want, then it’s no longer an issue.
  9. I'm not speaking definitively, I'm speaking broadly and generally with layman's terms so I don't need to post a wall. I don't know if the issue is so much as targeting it, as it is having it not affect their overall vision for the XSX (and PS5) version (the reason some devs seem to be getting frustrated at least).
  10. Now, to clarify, there are times when the devs scale down to their target "lowest dominator", however, this also limits how "low" they're going to go, and sometimes (many times) this leaves them rebuilding many parts of the game (Witcher 3 original E3 demo vs release; required specs were much too high initially, so they had to start over). The lowest settings/minimum specs are not the "vision" the devs have for the game, but it's a base to build off of to get to their vision. With the Series S vs Series X and still building for last gen, needing to scale down that much can hurt the "vision" they have in mind.
  11. I don't remember what I was getting with my 3080 (I don't think I booted it up with my 3080 Ti tbh) but I remember it being barely 40-ish fps to keep VRR going and it was mostly low and medium settings, I think I even had it set to sub-4k resolution to keep it above 40. Now everything is set to max + 4k and it was mostly around 90fps with some random drops down to the about 57-60 before going right back to 90+ (I guess this is a DLSS bug since it's in beta?).
  12. @stepeethe update for MS Flight Simulator took from the time of you replying to me until now to finish. JFC. 100+gb update on top of a 110gb game. Also I needed to go into Windows Display -> Graphics Setting -> Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling set to On.
  13. On PC, games are made for the lowest dominator and then bells and whistles are added onto that. The minimum spec holds back the highest spec in terms of fidelity/features/what-have-you. This is likely similar to what's occurring with XSS vs XSX. Also, with consoles, devs can "hone in" on the specs more as they're not typically programming for a variety of equipment and can squeeze more out of it; this is one of the reasons why a PC that is spec'd, on paper, the same as a console, won't perform the same in the same game. No one said that they weren't being held back - I'd wager that they are.
