Same. I wake up, take my time getting ready for the day, make some coffee and get to it. It's great. And the money I save on gas is nice too. Back when I was in the office I was (still am) an early riser. I'd wake up around 5:30, be in the office around 6:15-6:30. I'd get home most days around 5:30 or 6.

For real, the half-capped attendance is nice. The dealer hall isn't claustrophobic. You can actually enjoy checking out and hanging at booths. I know it's only a one year change but damn it's pretty sweet.

Holy Fucking Shit My heart won't stop. That last 3 minutes was stressful as fuuuuuuuuck.

A year off because COVID and a month later than usual, but GenCon is back live and in-person this week! The Con kicks off this Thursday the 16 and continues through Sunday. This will be a weird year, I think. They cut attendance by a huge amount to keep it less crowded. Instead of the convention hall being open 24/7 they're closing it at midnight each evening for cleaning/sanitation. Masks are required at all times regardless of vaccination status. And vendors aren't allowed to have "first come first serve" time-limited offers to discourage rushing and crowding to booths. Also, since this got pushed forward a month it overlaps with football season so rather than using Lucas Oil Field for overflow, satellite events will be held at local game stores, comic shops and bars throughout the area. I'm loading up the truck and driving out to Indianapolis tomorrow and will be at the con all week. If any of you are in the area let me know and I'll buy you a beer. If there's anything you want to see from the show let me know and I'll try to find it for you. If there are any con exclusives/new releases you're trying to get your hands on, also let me know and I'll see what I can do. The longest season in NFL history kicks off with a weekend full of action and a crazy-go-nuts finish on Monday Night! It wasn't poop. It wasn't in my section but I saw the section where it was happening getting cleared out. It was pretty funny.

Well I wish the game had turned out different (losing your starting QB in the 2nd quarter of the first game is no bueno), but it was a great day. I missed going to games, I missed our tailgate. It felt good to be back out there.

Like, Sasuke was, "Oh no you fucked up! Heartbreak! See you next year!" Ninja Warrior is like, "Oh no you fucked up in the Tennessee trials we'll see you again in the Boston and maybe the Hoboken trials then the quarters, then oh no you failed again but you failed faster than the other guy so you get a spot next week in the Vegas prelims and...." The stakes just don't feel as high. I don't feel as personally invested in the athletes' success or failure.

I guess, I just...like, I found the og Sasuke kind of compelling and would watch whole competitions. Maybe I found it more interesting because it was a single event? But like, the current one? It just feels way more...game-showy, I guess? Like, if I had a whole season of new Ninja Warrior to watch I feel like I would just load up the last episode to see who/if anyone wins and that'd be it.

Yeah, it's an odd choice for a show like this. These obstacle/athletic game shows do well (Ninja Warrior, Wipeout, etc.), but they aren't really they kind of show you sit down and on-demand. They're either on and catch your attention or not. They aren't appointment or binge television. Then again, Netflix is returning Floor is Lava for a second season so it's possible we're just out of touch.

WELCOME to the 2021-22 edition of the Mock Gambling Thread! The shortest pre-season now rolls into the longest season in NFL history. It's time to throw your fake money on the table and gamble, guess, and predict your way to victory over all the other slobs on the board! Whether you are an MGT veteran or new player dipping your feet in for the first time, read-on for all the rules! Let's go! The Mock Gambling Thread is a competition that is a part gambling and part prediction contest. The competition lasts for the entirety of the NFL season and post-season and is open to all regular board members. Each player starts with fictional $1,000 that you can gamble as much or as little as you like on each week's Feature Game. There are two ways to increase your cash: Bet on the outcome of the Featured Game each week (with the spread). The featured game will be chosen each week from among the nationally televised games with the line set from when I post the thread. There will be a number of questions that will ask you to make predictions or to forecast certain outcomes across the NFL during the week. Correct answers earn you cash. You do not lose cash for wrong answers. The types of questions will vary each week, as will the amount of cash they can earn you. The competition continues through NFL season and post-season. At the conclusion of the Super Bowl the user with the most "cash" left will be the winner. THE RULES 1.
