  1. ..... Tried to think of a logical reason, couldn’t even think a of decent illogical one. That just means it will be easier to block. Lol
  2. I don’t disagree with that. It would be interesting to see it put to real vote. Heck, things could change tomorrow and I’d probably vote differently than I would today.
  3. Reaction, agreed, especially from the most extreme ends, as usual; but action seem to be at the base similar across the board.
  4. Had to explain that to my buddy’s little brother, when in the fellas chat he said it was stupid that Dewine was closing schools. He doesn’t have kids, nor is ever around them, so I kind of excused it, but man, come on.
  5. Just to note, I’m not really disagreeing with the polled opinions numbers, more so if that actually translate into reality. It doesn’t surprise me when they don’t, because more often than not, you get a certain type of person to answer those type of polls, and a certain type of answer because they feel it’s the proper one for their political position. If that makes sense to you (I believe it should).
  6. You need to visit the actually streets of the US if you think this an D v R thing. I could drive to Seven Hills (R, middle class white) right now, then through the Garden Valley (D, poor black) area and the activity level of people improperly practicing or not at all is the same. Actually did both last Friday and was surprised at the amount of activity in both areas, compared to where I live. Sometimes I wonder if the people on this board actually interact socially with random people (not for work) in real life, or are all your socialization based on the internet/TV. The pictures you all paint as everyday life are just not even close to my everyday. Maybe I just don’t live around or visit areas where there are a significant number of people that suck.
  7. When it’s dry I could sit in it all day. Add a bit of moisture and that’s when it unbearable. 48 here outside of Cleveland. It had been warmer, near 70 in the past weeks. People are complaining about the cold; I remind them we only saw more than 5” of snow maybe three times this winter, and probably had less than 15 days of snow on the ground, it was wonderful. Weather should be wonderful here in 2070. Great grand kids will be in a better place with all the northern land acquired since the migration than my generation is with our southern land (not that it treats us poorly).
  8. That LBJ quote is how Obama ended up president. Those “low” whites realized their “white card” didn’t have as much credit as they thought. Obviously that was squandered by basically telling them they didn’t belong with the disenfranchised, and you got Trump.
  9. Been saying that since the beginning. If it wasn’t for the fact that I have friends at CDC or the hospitals giving me detailed updates, at worse I wouldn’t believe it was “real, at best that it was planned (the response has me feeling some of the later) and was all for the money grab. The market consolidation going on is huge, M&A discussion have ramped up, and consumer bases are becoming accustom to less variety. Going to be a significantly different world on the other side.
  10. I’d be one of those people. Going to school at Tuskegee, living in the city, and communing with some of the families has a lasting effect on your already shaky trust in the government (especially from a let us stick you, it’s good for you perspective).
  11. Every ponzi scheme has the perception of paying out. Hamilton was big on that perception, but also understood, and spoke to the holders of the debt never seeing anywhere close to a full return. (For what is worth, Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, a good read)
  12. Having no intentions of every paying back the debt is what allows for the deficit spending. A founding principle of the country. Really they are just saying out loud what has to already be understood.
  13. Likely is not even a questions. If they are not investing more money, they are at least the only capital projects being supported in the Covid economy. Just had a conversation about it yesterday with my company’s Pres/GM.
  14. Yup, they are up at least $2 at my normal grocery store; they even put up signs about the price increase. Bread is also up about $.50. Most stuff has stayed the same except the weekly specials aren’t being run. The craziest thing about the grocery store is it’s a great look at market consolidation. A lot of those products that once filled those empty spaces won’t return.
  15. Dimora, Mason, Budish, Jackson, Turner, search away (easily). The politicians in Ohio are fairly down the middle. The way the state is set up, it forces them to be. Edit: Kasich is a good, as is Jackson (mayor of Cleveland) example. Watch early to now Dewine covid footage.
  16. ... and our Democrats do that locally, more so than our Republicans, it’s well documented. At the end of the day, they are all politicians. You’re choosing for best impact. That’s how you end up with Brown and Dewine winning their elected positions.
  17. We have fairly decent Republicans for which to vote; and over all they are just flat out better than their Democratic counterparts.
  18. Listening to my kids play with an assortment of toys (Hot Wheels, Ninja Turtles, Paw Patrol, a Barbie) before bath time; my eldest: ”Sorry to interrupt the Price is Right, but Chase has a special announcement. There is a virus. We need everyone off the streets. Everything will be closed, please stay at home, and make sure to wash your hands.” Hilarious and sad at the same time.
