  2. I guess if I'm wrong, I will see a sudden uptick to 50% of mask wearing in indoor places this week. As all the people who support an implementation of an immediate mask mandate in Ontario will begin wearing masks again.
  3. It's from yesterday. Asking whether "now" was the time for a mask mandate. We could argue whether an online poll is statistically relevant (it isn't), but arguing about whether it is relevant for what is happening in today's ICU is hard.
  4. Clearly the global Covid pandemic and RSV, which all of us had as toddlers, are the same thing. And people view them in the same way.
  5. The specific question in the survey was: "Would you support, somewhat support, somewhat oppose or oppose a return to mandatory wearing of face masks in indoor public places this fall if authorities deem it necessary due to rising Covid case numbers?"
  6. The current outbreak is not Covid. In Ontario, Has very little to do with Covid, in Ontario (on Thursday, last day reported), of the 122 children in ICU, only 5 had Covid. Overall ICU numbers from COVID are also relatively low (province is reporting over 560 adult ICU beds available, with only 138 adults in ICU for Covid, [peak was ~890]). This is primarily about RSV (and to a smaller extent about the Flu). RSV is a virus that 90% of kids catch while toddlers. There isn't going to be much support for mask mandates to control seasonal respiratory viruses.
  7. That attempt of playing defence was the worst in the history of football. The Raiders made Matt Ryan look like Michael Vick.
  8. The Raiders have had some bad defences over the last 20 years. This year’s version might be the worst ever.
  9. Formerly illicit drugs are much sexier to support than making luxuries easier to buy for the bourgeoisie.
  10. It's almost like Trump is finally coming to the realization that DeSantis is likely to be the GOP runner for President in the next US election...
  11. Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller both on IR yesterday. Blake Martinez retired. Raiders might be tanking for a QB....
  12. I still see about 5% of people wearing it on commuter trains. 30%? Not since the last mask mandates stopped.
  13. The Raiders are now 0-3 on games they've led 17-0. Before this season, they had lost 5 games in franchise history with a 17-point lead.
  14. Bill 28 was brought in after CUPE announced a plan to strike. CUPE is now announcing a "victory", after the Government promises to rescind Bill 28 because they announced they wouldn't strike.
  15. Average wage increases are 2.5%-3.0% this year, and that has been consistent through time. The private sector has been below 2.0%. 2.5%-3.0% is reasonable. 5.8% is not. FWIW, CUPE's counterproposal was not shared publicly. Their official position at the announcement of their strike was 11.7% per year.
  16. When the government announced their intention to block CUPE's right to strike, their official position was raises of the following (all % based on present salaries) 2022: 11.7% 2023: 11.7% 2024: 11.7% The Ontario government's proposal is unreasonable, but fuck any public sector union that is demanding a greater than 30% increase over 3 years.
  17. IMHO, it is pretty explicit: "Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability."
  18. I recognize that the Supreme Court has ruled that back-to-work legislation violates freedom of expression and the right to assembly. I am not a legal scholar, so I won't pretend to understand the legal arguments behind it. When I read the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, as a lay person, I can clearly see how Legault violated the "freedom of conscience and religion". Since, I can't read the text of the CR&A, as a layperson, and see how this Bill violates those rights, I have a hard time getting upset about it. If someone can do that, I could see myself changing my opinion.
