  1. “These two candidates, [Trump and Joe Biden] are both similarly challenged. And it is not crazy to think that the oldest people in the history of the country to ever run for president might have some of these challenges … We’re not suggesting neither man is vibrant, productive or even capable. But they’re both stretching the limits of being able to handle the toughest job in the world.” This is the shit I'm annoyed with. Biden has issues with memory, but to suggest they are similarly challenged is just not factually true. The criticism against Biden is true but Trump has many perceived mental illnesses on top of potentially having dementia. Hell, he's even developing a messiah complex now by openly declaring himself to be created by God to be America's caretaker. But sure, similarly challenged.
  2. My therapist uses a form of treatment called brainspotting. It involves being put into a hypnotic state and then uses your eye movement to activate where the trauma is held in the nerves and release it. Each session I focus on a specific emotion and some deeply held emotional responses can take more than one session.
  3. Non-binary teen dies after alleged assault at Oklahoma school WWW.THEPINKNEWS.COM Nex Benedict, a teenager who identified as non-binary, has died following an alleged assault in a high school bathroom in Oklahoma, US. This story has sent ripples of grief throughout the trans community for the past few days. It's hard to add much more to this story because I keep bursting into tears. But Oklahoma had recently passed a bathroom law for trans kids in public schools and Nex had reported being bullied but the school did not act on it. After the assault the school refused to call the ambulance and suspended Nex for using the women's restroom. The next day Nex died. The Libs of Tiktok lady is on the Oklahoma school board and it now looks like the school is trying to cover it up to avoid being held accountable. The police even released a false statement that the death was not caused by trauma that they quickly retracted. There's needs to be a federal investigation into this now.
  4. Jon Stewart’s ‘calm-down’ paternalism isn’t funny in 2024 WWW.WBUR.ORG Jon Stewart remains devoted to a lazy brand of false equivalency in which all political candidates are suspect, writes Steve Almond. But the political fate of this country isn’t a joke. I agree with a lot of this and it helps to pinpoint why many felt last week's segment was tone-death. Stewart can't return for this election with the same tone he's used on previous elections and expect it to work. The stakes are way too high this time around and acting like this is just another election does not ring true for those paying attention.
  5. So Donald Trump for months has been promising to be a literal dictator and the best they can do is a "both sides is crazy" segment on how old the candidates are? This is just the first week back, so maybe they have more planned to say what the media has failed to say within the couple of weeks, but so far I'm not left with much hope.
  6. Saw this a few weeks ago and still can't stop thinking about how hard this slapped. So glad I saw this in a theater. Also how was this made on a 15 million dollar budget? Usually foreign movies have CGI that are a few years behind Hollywood but this one looked better than a lot of Hollywood movies.
  7. I haven't watched a Super Bowl in years but watched last night because I'm a Swiftie. If Travis and Taylor are in a real life rom-com then last night's game was the third act, down to the last second victory. While I'm not a sport fan per say, I do like some sports movies, so it's clear I just need a narrative to keep me interested in a game. Being invested in last night's game helped me better understand the appeal of sports. It was such a thrilling game to watch, felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster.
  8. Hey y'all, I'm back after taking a break. Sorry for having a meltdown last year. I've always been very public about my mental health struggles and how my PTSD affects my posting sometimes. I apologize for making a scene, but I am doing much better now. For the past five months I started seeing a therapist who specializes in trauma it has made a huge difference already. It is wild the kind of new techniques they have now to work through trauma that is way more effective than traditional talk therapy. If you're reading this and you feel like you have trauma you haven't worked through yet and you have the means then please see a trauma therapist. The results have been amazing for me so far!
  9. I'm agreeing with those who think this seems rushed. Which is a shame because I adore Moana. I guess you could still make a good movie without LMM returning but his songs were such an essential part of that film working.
  10. Disney was developing a direct to video sequel to Toy Story that Pixar wasn't involved in. Pixar wasn't pleased with how the movie was turning out so they asked Disney to throw it out completely if they would let make the sequel themselves. Only thing is the movie still had to come out on the original planned release date so they had only 9 months to make the whole movie. It's truly a miracle that Toy Story 2 is as good as it is. It's pretty clear this isn't a creative decision but one of desperation because Wish and Strange World flopped. They need a win and Moana 2 will guarantee one for them.
  11. 74 percent of Republicans say it’s fine for Trump to be dictator for a day THEHILL.COM A new survey found that a majority of Republicans say it is fine for former President Trump to be a dictator for the day if he wins the presidential election. The survey from the University of Mass… This deserves it's own thread because what the fuck. Trump just dropped the "dictator for a day" during a Sean Hannity interview and at first seemed like a one time odd thing to say, that he would be a dictator on the first day of his presidency but after then magically stop being a dictator. But since then has been repeating it at his rallies. Every time he would say he would be a "day one dictator" his audience who cheer. Hearing Americans openly cheering a dictatorship feels deeply chilling. And now after a few months of repeating "day one dictator" this 3/4ths of Republicans are totally fine with this.
  12. After reevaluating things I think I need to take a step back. My mental health was already not great with all the shit happening in Florida, and it took a huge dive at the beginning of the summer when I lost my job for being trans. There's so many users on here that I love and respect, but sometimes it's hard being part of a community where one of the most celebrated members has openly stated that he does not think trans women should be viewed as women. And as a trans woman I often feel invisible and unseen, and it hurts to have SBL continually ignore me after coming out as trans. It just reminds me how little regard so many people have for trans people. I already deal with that so much of that in real life, why subject myself to even more of that? I used to consider him a friend and it's sad to lose a friend to transphobia. Sometimes coming on here is like reopening old wounds. I need to heal. Even in his own thread where SBL call me out he's still ignoring me because he's a transphobe. He claims to be against bigotry but is unable to see the bigotry in his own heart. I love those who have shown me care and support this year. So please don't take offense that I must take a hiatus to focus on myself and my mental health.
  13. You're the one sticking your nose in matters that does not concern you. I think you secretly enjoy it.
  14. Joe Wurzelbacher, known as 'Joe the Plumber' in 2008 election, dies at 49 - BNO News BNONEWS.COM Joe Wurzelbacher, the Ohio man who became well-known as “Joe the Plumber” after questioning Barack Obama about his tax plan during the 2008 election...
  15. It doesn’t? Maybe he doesn’t think about or care about me but I actually care about him. Hope he’s doing okay.
  16. There's actually a lot about SBL that I really like which is why his anti trans comments and ignoring of me since returning here has really hurt me. And before I came out he seemed to really like me but now apparently never thinks of me at all. I guess I'm just that worthless to him. "The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference." - Elie Wiesel
  17. Nope, just the transphobes. Plenty of cool people out there.
  18. I don’t tag you because what’s the point. You‘ve ignored me ever since I’ve returned to this board earlier this year. Given your previous anti trans remarks I can only make assumptions as to why.
  19. DeSantis went to speak at a vigil here in Jacksonville and was heckled. One of the event organizers took the mic and told the crowd to keep politics out of it. Sorry, but if you wanted to keep politics out of it you never would have allowed him to the event. Him being there is political.
  20. The media really doesn’t know how to call a white supremacist a white supremacist.
  21. I get that but they’ve been promoting the movie for 7 months and will have to restart the same promotional push again leading up to March. That’s a lot of money to spend on promotion. They are also giving up a six week IMAX run by moving it to next year. I forgot Zendaya was in this one because she was barely in pt 1 so I agree that her promoting the movie would be an important asset. I guess there’s no easy way out of this.
  22. Remember a few months ago when NAACP issued a travel advisory for Florida and someone on here argued it was politically motivated and that it’s still safe to travel here? I remember. The Florida National Socialists group has been experiencing an increase in recruitment because of the drag queen hysteria. They projected a swastika onto a building in downtown Jacksonville. My friend has seen flyers that were distributed in his neighborhood. Other hateful messages have been seen hanging from highway overpasses. This isn’t an isolated incident. It’s a growing problem and shouldn’t be ignored. In Florida, far-right groups look to seize the moment WWW.NPR.ORG A far-right group in Jacksonville, Fla., has been regularly projecting hate symbols onto downtown buildings. Groups like this...
  23. This happened like five minutes away from the school I taught at last year. Really hope none of the kids or faculty were there. Goddamn this is so heartbreaking.
