Oh so close... one of your answers went against the theme.

How did I miss this thread up until now...week 3 answers submitted
You know, we're all (mostly) adults here. I can provide the links to the previous weeks if you haven't looked at the answers in the spoilers.
And if anyone has an issue with late entries, I can break the winners up between those who met the deadlines, and those who didn't. Each submission is dated.
It's all meant to be fun, but also offer something (that I think is cool) as a prize at the end.
Here's what the winner(s) can choose from (valued around $30-$35):

Loved the season. Two things that seemed to be missing were:
What happened with the Romulan love interest? They have a shot at the end of Jack setting down a picture of what appeared to be Bev and Picard getting married (which is amazing), but some closure would have been nice after the last two seasons.
And... where the fuck was Wesley Crusher????
-
Bumping this up in case anyone else wants to submit their answers before the Sunday deadline (when week 2 starts).

There's only one I'm iffy on because I'm not sure which one specifically it was. I also didn't bother with full, specific titles because I'm sure I would mess them up.
I'm fairly lenient. So long as you put the correct movie, it doesn't much matter to me if you put John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum, or just put John Wick 3. If you were to only put John Wick, and it's one of the sequels, you'd only get half a point.
There's only one movie, in the final week, that requires a full title, but that's specifically there to help create separation if there are any ties.

I'm just happy we finally got Osbert. He plays such an enormous role in the books, and is essentially a new Uhtred. Wish we would have been able to see him fight, but I am satisfied with what we got.
For the ending...
SpoilerThey rode a fine line of taking the books, which are fiction weaved with fact, and merging that with actual fact and history and a real life Uhtred who may or may not have existed as he did in the books. The key with the books is Uhtred can't die. The books start with Uhtred as an old man retelling his stories.
But I loved that they showed his call to Valhalla. If they had shown Ragnar, I might have ugly cried.

I'm going to try this even though I'm generally awful at it. I think the most I ever got on the ones you used to do is like 3.
I, and I apologize, can't recall for the life of me who used to do these. Those were ridiculously difficult. While there will be upcoming ones that are definitely more difficult, there's nothing abstract - there will always be something identifying in the image that says what movie it is.
And as I said before, each week will have one or two themes (if two, five will be one theme, and five will be the other theme) - once you figure out the theme, it should help. And all the themes are broad.
So, for example, if you put one answer down, and that movie is absolutely nothing like the other movies that week, you know it's probably not correct.
And as an example, for this first week, the theme is: Outer Space.

Going back to week 1, I really used that week to better gauge my coworkers' movie knowledge, so this first week is definitely on the easier side.
-
I recently put this together for something fun for my work team, and have it fully set up for an 8 week contest. Figured I'd start it up here, too. Same as what we used to do here - one frame from a movie, guess the movie.
Only difference is, I'm setting it up as a contest. There will be a form to submit every Sunday for 8 weeks, with a leaderboard, and whoever has the most points at the end can choose from any of the coaster sets I print and sell ($30 value). It's not much, but something so there's skin in the game.
I'll post the link for the first week after I wake up Sunday/today. But here are the rules:
• 10 movies per week
• Theatrically released films only
• One entry per person - please put your D1P username in the name field
• Each week will have one or two broad themes
• You won't know what the themes are in advance
• For week 1 only, the theme is: Outer Space
• Full titles get you 1 point, partial titles get you half a point
• The results for each week will be posted the following Sunday
• Please don't post any answers in this thread - doing so will disqualify you
• Because I created this for my coworkers originally, the level of difficulty varies, but the difficulty does ramp up
Also, while I do have a rather substantial digital movie library, DRM prevents me from taking screenshots. And the days of ripping DVD are long gone. While I've done my best to grab the highest quality possible, the quality does vary from image to image.
Have fun!
Here are the final standings:
Brick: 73
EternalDarkness: 73
Kal-El84: 71

@stepee Exactly all that. Did you know we only got the "bedroom kill" because of the pandemic? They were in lockdown and basically said, "well, we've got all this time on our hands, let's put it to good use."
And the score for both movies is absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend getting them on your preferred streaming service.
For the third movie... Terrifier 2 spoilers:
SpoilerI feel like they've been setting it all up to reveal Art is Sienna's father. That's what gives her power over Art, and with the sketch book, her father chronicled what happened when Art, the demon, took over, until he couldn't take it any more and drove himself into the electric pole, thinking that could end it.
That would make a few things fit: how Art knew where Sienna's friend lived, where Sienna lived, and why he purposefully went after Sienna's mom (with the writing on the car)... it also makes that kill in particular all the more powerful, and why Sienna and her brother are the only two people Art doesn't just kill outright.
-
The lesser of two weevils.
And the DVD was the long running standard for showing off any home theater sound system. One of the best 5.1 mixes ever created, especially the opening scene where you feel like you're on the deck.

If Apple did this it would be front page news on every news site and the scandal would stick to them for decades.
Not at all. If Apple did it they'd be praised as the second coming of photography and fawned over for taking all photography to the next level.
Also, when do we get the camera AI that puts six fingers on every picture I take with my phone?
-
There were things I loved, and things that really should have been handled better. I need to see it again, but at this point, for me, it ranks as:
1
2
4
5/6
3
4/5/6 are all very close, but 4 gets the nod for no other reason than they REALLY went there for the killer.
-
Finally!!!
SpoilerCan't believe they went "there" with the stickers.
Only downside is the BDs aren't 4k. Only 4k option is through Best Buy. Still have to get that one.
