Are we predicting that it's Manchin or Sinema that prevents this from passing? Either the bill itself, or eliminating the filibuster to pass the bill? If the filibuster can't be removed to keep abortion rights in place when 70% of the US population supports it (including women, of course, the new base of the Democratic Party), then how to the Democrats expect to win in 2022 or 2024? -

Everything needs to be framed into a close battle story. It's why, even when something is overwhelming, the mainstream American press often focuses on stuff like: "X may seem popular, but some people are very upset..." -

The media class in the US needs the chopping block. -
Yep, the court here is quite non-political. Obviously justices tend to skew the direction of the PM who appointed them, but they are also highly respected judges in their fields who have undergone screening from bar associations, law societies, etc, before ever getting to the short list that is presented to the PM.

That makes the decision "moderate" and "balanced." -
There's a difference between spray painting on a church and targeting the church/beliefs, and spray painting on a church which is openly hosting people who advocate for the anti-democratic removal of the government. The message is for the the people going there and that the church is hosting them, not the church/belief.

This brings up the issue with "endemic" COVID: if most people are going to catch this a few times per year...how do they afford the time off? Over 20% of American workers have no paid sick leave at all. Many only have a few.
