There was the same reaction when the Ontario Liberal government announced a few years back that they were going to start introducing "woke" sexual education at Kindergarten. Massive conservative outrage. Except...at young ages it was just basic stuff, like the fact that sometimes men are married to men, etc. Nothing sexual at all, just that there are physical differences between some people's bodies, and that some people are attracted to different types of people than you may be. As the kids got older they would receive more and more information until they were learning about actual sex at an appropriate age. But from the outrage on the right you'd think that they were watching gay porn in grade 1.

Kids aren't as fragile as we think they are, and it's important that they internalize the struggle of existence/reality before they grow too old to be desensitized to it. That's not to say we should be trying to make them callous or traumatized...but they need to know the truth, and I don't think there is harm in teaching it.

Dang, checked my old employer RRSP (401k) today (I keep a spreadsheet month-to-month) and it dropped 10% from last month and is even year over year. Right now it's just passive, I am not putting anything new into that one or touching it in any way. Basically back to pre-2021 levels. Thanks Biden!

There's a new convoy that entered Ottawa, this time lots of motorcycles and trucks. They are calling it "Rolling Thunder," and it's got the usual characters (white supremacists, traitors, etc). The only scheduled speaker is a known anti-Semite and crazy person. Fortunately, this time the Ottawa police are dealing with it a bit better. However, some Conservatives still managed to show up and support the morons: There have been multiple arrests already, including people who attended the first rally and were released on bail on the condition that they not return to Ottawa. Those people will likely see prison time, now.

There's a restaurant in my city called Coney Island, and the only two things they sell are poutine and milkshakes...but about 100 types of each. My favourite poutine there is the Italian Stallion, which is fries with curds and gravy, but also some pepperoni, chorizo, and some mozzarella melted on top. Fantastic. They also give you a free small (regular) poutine on your birthday, you just have to show them your driver's license.

I've had perogy pizza before that was pretty good, and it's common in western Canada since there's a large Ukrainian population. Typically it has a sour cream base instead of pizza sauce (thin, though), chopped potatoes, onion, mozza or cheddar cheese. Sometimes bacon. My favourite combo from a place nearby recently has been: Ranch sauce base Tandoori chicken Red onion Mozza Really good.
