  1. Adopted a new kitten today so that Columbo would have a buddy to play with (our oldest cat, Little, just wants to sleep and cuddle). Since we named the last one Frank Columbo, we thought we'd continue the theme. And since he has a little mustache, meet Hercule Poirot:
  2. Apparently the year the school was built there was a bunch of soil moved out from a nuclear testing site nearby...one theory is that it was used in the foundation/construction of the grounds.
  3. "I asked God to die quickly." A 17-year-old girl from Mariupol speaks of hunger, fear, and filtration camp EN.HROMADSKE.UA A blonde girl wearing a red poppies wreath, Ukrainian costume, necklace, and holding the bandura in her hands — that is how 17-year-old Maria Vdovychenko looked at pre-war photos. Until recently, she lived with her family in Mariupol, was the president of the school, studied bandura, and visited church with her parents. Everyone should read this.
  4. Since Putin's name is in cyrillic and not latin, it's transliterated differently in different languages. In English it's Putin, in French it's Poutine.
  5. All this talk of cereal drove me to have my first bowl in two years, last night. We went to the store and got some Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and used the Cashew Milk we have at home. It was delicious. EDIT - And I poured the cereal in first
  6. I've tried to remain at home, but they've forced me back in for two days a week. I wear an N95 the whole day, but at this point (in an office of 20 with no ventilation) I am the only one wearing a mask. No one saying if they have COVID or not (and there is no requirement to inform or isolate in my province, now), but the amount of people out sick has skyrocketed in the last few weeks, as has the coughing, sniffles, etc.
  7. Bill Murray has always seemed like someone who it would be difficult to be around because they are a bit much. I just assume that anyone who is like that is also horrible in other ways. Anyone who lacks (or ignores) social tact is an automatic asshole to me, and I assume the worst of them.
  8. Yeah, currently we're doing parallel Futurama and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia binges on Disney+.
  9. I mean the entire thing is fantasy. It's true that their goal may now be to hold the east and south...but that's because they already hold 80% of it. If they'd captured Kyiv, Kharkiv, or Chernihiv, they'd be including those as goals as well.
  10. Finally watched this last night, at home. I loved it, it was everything I want from a Batman film. Beautiful, of course, as well as an amazing score, but overall I just really love the atmosphere. Highlights were the entire opening, showing Batman as a symbol of fear, waiting in every shadow, as well as when the Batmobile starts up for the first time. I've heard that people didn't like the final act, but I thought it was good, and worked well to show (to Bruce) the consequences of his actions, and that he can just as easily be a symbol of vengeance as justice.
  11. For those unaware, between Apr 6 and 15, Abbott had state troopers stop and inspect every single truck coming in from Mexico...after they had already been inspected by US Customs. The total amount of trade lost due to this was estimated at $8.97 billion.
