  1. FF8 enjoyers/defenders are hella loud about it. FF8 comes across as one of those games where you either love it or you hate it with no figurative in-between. Is like, if you enjoy FF8 that is THE masterpiece Final Fantasy. Obviously, there are people who do like FF8 while not putting it on that pedestal but you rarely hear from'em. And of course, when you get people praising FF8 you are gonna see people join in to mock them and call them names.
  2. I will also add that in FF14 there is a whole raid series based on FF8. Nothing in XIV is currently based on 7 or 9. The whole of Endwalker is a retelling of FF4 and there is also a FF3 alliance raid series. FF12 and FFT are also in FF14 in various ways.
  3. Growing up, IX seemed to be the least popular of the ps1 era. The great debate was between 7 and 8, not 6 and 7 like it is now. However, 9 is talked about often online and generally in a positive light. I see far less negative stuff about 9 than I do 7 but 7 also has a bigger audience so there are more people to dislike it. I would say that these days Final Fantasy IX is a popular game. I cannot agree that the figurative nobody talks about FF9 in my usual haunts and I would put it over 8 in terms of online popularity in the year 2023. I could be wrong but this is the conclusion I have drawn based on my experiences online. It is why I skipped from 4 all the way to 9.
  4. Some people who are enjoying the leak to the fullest are already dooming on it. Of course, that crowd disappointment comes from "six years for BOTW DLC" and while I see nothing wrong with that argument, that doesn't mean the game is actually bad.
  5. I wouldn't mind that if 9 had a slow start. I love games have that a slow start before the game really begins, like in Twilight Princess for example. With FF9 tho, it is actually moving at a quick pace, but the plot is moving very slowly. Of course, I am only on Disc 2 but this is easily the slowest FF I have played so far. Slow plot-wise that is.
  6. I'm worried that ME4 will have a Clone Shepard player character. That would make me very upset.
  7. "Outward is an open world fantasy RPG with survival elements" "Moonligher is a roguelite" *sighs* i thought they might have been mentioned because they fit what i wanted...
  8. Ok, but the game doesn't start out like that. We don't know the full truth until later. Cloud also doesn't go, "Don't worry Tifa, I'll always protect you and save you, my Princess" the moment we are introduced to Tifa. Cloud isn't even particularly that warm to Aerith either. Cloud starts out interesting, IMO, and it makes him even more interesting when we find out the cloud we know is based on a lie. I don't know what will happen with Zidane in the future, but for now, he is boring. He doesn't even feel like a main character. Like I said, he feels as relevant as Yuffie at the moment. And I don't get how you are lumping the whole story of IX and Zidane's personal story and then only bringing up Cloud's personal story. The whole Midgard part of the story is more interesting than IX's Disc 1 even when you ignore Cloud.
  9. The issue is that I pretty much exclusively play third-person action-adventure games that may or may not have RPG elements (and FFXIV). Indie Devs pretty much never make those and if they do they are unpolished enough that I don't want to play it, like Mortal Shell. Hell, Indie devs don't even make non-cringe turn-based fantasy RPGs with a human/human-enough cast. I don't want more side-scroller games, or isometric games, or these massive sim games where you don't even have a main character or a story and it was made in some guy's basement over the past 20 years, or a visual novel with or without furries, or a puzzle walking simulator, or a boomer shooter. And it isn't even that I hate all of those types of games, it's just that they gotta be 100% up my alley and cater to all of my preferences if I am to play them. Sometimes, I'll play a good side-scroller Metroidvainia or a retro Zelda-inspired game but they aren't my favorite types of games. Like, I still feel like I waiting for the next Bastion all these years later. And for the most part, with very few exceptions, I wanna play as an anime protagonist, or a Conan the Barbarian incarnate. I am a Gears of War fan after all. I have no desire to play a pasty shlubby guy from Minnesota who wears glasses and flannels with their defining character traits being that they like coffee and craft beers and the only woman in their life is their pet cat. My FFXIV character is both of those btw.
  10. Fresh. I don't really care for frozen strawberries unless yer making a drink or smoothie or something.
  11. My intent was to just eat some. But I had all of them in front of me and I didn't feel like stoppin'.
