Jason
Republicans thought they were in the clear with no vote until after the election. They were overly optimistic.
b_m_b_m_b_m
Trump will say whatever Trump thinks will keep Trump in office. Having a democratic Congress doesn't matter to him that much.
TwinIon
I wish I could be optimistic enough in the American people to believe that they won't fall for this imaginary plan, but all that optimism died when Trump was elected. I just hope that the press pushes back this relentlessly. He's already declared that this will be a central campaign issue, so make him come up with the goods. Elizabeth Warren drops policy proposals weekly that are more substantive than any GOP healthcare plan this decade. That should matter so much more than it seems to. Well, on the bright side, McCain's "give everyone $5000" plan was grilled against Obama's in 08. We do have evidence in 2017 that the crumbs of whatever they had "planned" didn't go over well with the public.
